Dear Lord:

Please forgive me.

I've made a Top 10 list of my favorite Frank Zappa songs (well, one instrumental).

May your archangel Francis Zappa not strike me down for heresy.

I count exactly ONE overlap between my list and BOTH of your lists.

This is an experiment in futility!

No particular order:

King Kong
The Little House That I Used To Live In
N-Lite
The Adventures Of Greggery Peccary
Big Swifty
Waka Jawaka
The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue
The Uncle Meat Variations
Blessed Relief
Holiday In Berlin, Full-Blown
Project X (that's 11 :o )

Nothing of WOIIFTM, Absolutely Free(although Brown Shoes and Invocation almost made it), Freak Out, Lumpy or Cruisin' because I love them as complete albums, the songs separatedly can't compete with the ones I put up there, IMO. I mean, if I compare the songs Switching Girls with For Calvin, I prefer For Calvin, but if I compare the whole Lumpy Gravy with the whole Grand Wazoo albums, I think I prefer Lumpy.

Also, every single song of Hot Rats(and some of other albums too) almost made it into the top ten, I wish I'd put a lot more from Uncle Meat, Läther, Weasels, The Grand Wazoo and Civilization Phaze III

Hi,
So I am looking for this song of which I forgot the name... The song is to my knowledge never been released on a album. It sounds kind of like Filthy Habibts from Sleep Dirt. But only zappa and some other guy are playing the guitar, just jamming I always felt like, until the other guy screws up and Zappa asks him something like you messed up? And the other guy responds that it was due to cramp in his hand or something. They then stop playing.
Hope you can help?

Its just an 'in-joke' from this rather daft post from XdeVrij a while back.

This is an outrage!!

Not one of you listed Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy . Each and everyone of you needs to go back and listen to the Bongo Fury version of that song and then come back with your revised lists!

Lumpy and BBP, thanks for having the presence of mind to list Flower Punk and Mother People.

10. Regyption Strut
9. Eat That Question
8. Waka/Jawaka
7. Packard Goose
6. Hot Plate Heaven (Broadway version)
5. Moggio
4. Drowning Witch/Envelopes
3.Your Mouth
2. The Air
1. Son of Mr Green Genes

I could probably give you a completely different answer tomorrow.

I think his BEST song musically is Little House I Used To Live In.

I should hope so!

Hot Plate Heaven is better than RDNZL or Inca Roads or Black Napkins?
The Air is better than Punky's Whips or Blessed Relief?
Drowning Witch is better than Big Swifty or Carolina or Muffin Man?

I wish I could borrow your ears for a day so that I could make some sense of your list.

I see what you're getting at but this is all opinion and a bit of fun. The songs you listed could be thought of as 'better' technically or musically. But for today these are what I'm drawn to. I love Hot Plate, I could listen to it over and over again and still enjoy it.

The Air is beyond awesome, insanely singable and beautiful in a weird way.

Drowning Witch blows those 3 songs you listed out of the water. Even thought they're all amazing.

Tomorrow my list will be different. I narrowly missed No Not Now and King Kong off of the list but I want them on there.
