Did you attend the ZPZ show at the House Of Blues in Vegas?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

the concert was so good. what a variety of zappa music from the 60's -80's. They played billy the mountian & the illinois enema bandit
& the torture never stops + at least 10 other songs. It was mind expanding, thats what Frank
was doing in his day. I got Dweezls & Jeo- Travers autograghs on a old Zappa T-shirt. I'll
never forget it!

My wife and I were front and center with Dweezil just above us. It was our 2nd ZPZ tour. Saw FZ back in the 70's and 80's. We are so glad that DZ is keeping his father's music alive and well. This concert was unbelieveable!!! It's hard to say what song if any was better than another. Billy was so awesome on Billy The Mountain. He was really digging it and so were we. The entire show was rippingly great!! Being right in front of Dweezil was one of the most mind bending experiences of my life. I am still getting chills thinking about it. What a great musician Dweezil has become. A virtuoso of guitar playing...so much like Frank was, its uncanny. He has surrounded himself with the best musicians I have seen play live since the FZ touring days. After the concert the band members were so gracious to hang out onstage and shake hands, sign autographs and talk to the audience!! Dweezil gave us some guitar pics for one of my sons (a budding guitar player but under 21 so unable to attend the show at HOB). Thanks Dweezil. A special thanks to Joe Travers for signing a drumstick for our other son (a budding drummer himself but also under 21 so unable to attend the show at HOB). Joe made sure that my wife got the signed stick over all the other outstretched hands seeking it!!! Thanks Joe, my son was blown away Saturday morning when he saw it!!! Inspirational to say the least!!! There is no live concert experience like this one. I tell everyone I know about it. Those lucky enough to see ZPZ, share it with all your friends. We wish the band all the best on this tour and look forward to seeing you all back in Vegas real soon.
Music is the best!!

I traveled down to Las Vegas from Salt Lake City with 3 friends just to see Zappa Plays Zappa. We're in a band called the Grimpths, and Frank is by far our biggest inspiration. When we were kids we came across Zappa and have worshiped his musical stylings ever since. All of us had extremely high expectations for Dweezil, and fortunately, they were all met and exceeded! All four of us thoroughly loved this show and would make the grueling trip again in a heartbeat just to experience it. Everyone played magnificently. I just want to thank Dweezil for stepping up to the plate. He has done us and society in general a great service by continuing his father's legacy. I can imagine it must be hard feeling like he is living in his father's shadow, but I want Dweezil to know that Dweezil Zappa himself is great, notwithstanding any achievement his father met. Thank you so very much, Dweezil! And that goes for everyone in the band. The Grimpths would also like to ask ZPZ to check out our website, www.thegrimpths.com. There are some videos of our performances, old demos, and various cosmic debris. Thanks again. GO ZPZ!

The solos during the "Run Home Slow" riff and the slowed down second jam in "Inca Roads" were my favorite. This was the third time I saw them in Vegas and this was my favorite.

Thanks, Dweezil and other musicians, for doing this. I never got to see Frank.

this was my 12th show in nine months. read the review of the vancouver show from the you can't fit on stage tour from pless. the you can't fit on stage shows really spoiled me for zpz shows but the band is still just as great. i love coming to the shows and hearing new songs. the band has one of the longest and most impressive set list i have ever seen. the band sent everyone who went too the you can't fit on stage shows a set list and there was 80 songs on it, and the list keeps growing.
the band is just getting better each show i see. i had a very good time at the show as always do. thanks dweezil and joe for signing my 45 record of "big leg emma". hey when are you going too learn that one?
dweezil, thanks so much for all the inspiration from the you can't fit on stage tour. sitting down with you and ray and company for breakfast on the ferry to victoria and listening to the stories is something that makes me more than smile with joy. and then being put on the guest list for vancouver and then another breakfast again on the ferry is a story i will tell friends for the rest of my life. i practice alot more after talking you dweezil. i realized how little i practice and now i find more time for my instrument, thanks for all of this. the you can't fit one stage tour turned out to be more than i could imagine. traveling to new orleans, chicago, la roxy shows. then portland, seattle (my home), victoria, vancouver and now vegas, my girl and i have grow closer and closer with each trip. i met her months before new orleans 08, and we have been enjoying the travel and the memories of our treavels. and i have a unique thing going on with the band. it is nice to see the band. joe, i really enjoy watching you and learning from you, thank you for all your talent that you share. i hope to sit down with you and ask a few questions and i'm sure you will. you guys are doing something beautiful by sharing the music of frank and i'm sure you will touch more and more people. it has touched me. thanks john plessinger

What an awesome show!!! This was my second ZPZ tour to see and the show
just gets better everytime. While everyone in the band is top notch, I really
must say That Dweezil is probably one of the best guitar players I've ever seen and Ray White is still kick ass on vocals, great performance!!! If anybody
has a setlist of this show, will you please post it on this site. Hey Dweezil,
thanks for signing my "HAVIN' A BAD DAY" CD, you're awesome bro!!!

Concert was beyond great! It was my fourth time seeing ZPZ, but I think this might have been my favorite one--even better than when they had Vai and Bozzio and showed Frank on the big screen. Dweezil's playing was superb, and the band as a whole is so much tighter now than they were in 2006. Having said that, though, it's not like seeing a FZ concert. There is nothing like seeing a Frank Zappa show. But you have to applaud Dweezil and, yes, the Zappa Family Trust for putting on these shows.

Great work with the set list, FatherVyvian, but I think you had a couple of mistakes. I did not keep a running list during the show, but I do remember that that they played "Why Don'tcha Do Me Right?" from the Absolutely Free album. (This was the second song, I think, not "200 motels.") The other thing I remember is that they played a long instrumental over Frank's "Theme from Run Home Slow," with everybody taking long solos. For me, that was one of the highlights of the show, along with Billy the Mountain, of course.

Also: Maybe someone else can help with this. They played another long instrumental with solos some time before the "Run Home Slow" jam, but I just can't remember what it was. Not sure if it was "Dupree's Paradise" as FatherVyvian listed. Can anyone else confirm what that song was?

Yes, yes!!!

As I said, corrections are welcome. This list was taken from an actual setlist a fan got after the show. I took a pic of it with my cell phone. Considering my vodka intake, the pic was blurry AND worse news - reversed!!!
It took a magnifying glass, a mirror and about 3 hrs of diligence before I came up with this list.

The copy had 200 motels and some other words I couldn't read. "Why Don'tcha Do Me Right?" sounds good. But I thought I remembered him saying "200 Motels" Also, after Duprees Paradise it says "band solos". Where should Run Home Slow be?

Thanks shampoo-horn!!

Did we attend the Zappa Plays Zappa show in Las Vegas??! Hell yes we did! with bells, whistles and the whole nine yards! OMG what a fantastic show. My hubby and I saw you in '06 with little Stevie Vai, Napoelon and that one drummer guy :) Dweezil was not feeling well, but we still enjoyed the show. The 2009 show however takes the cake! The band as a whole is absolutely amazing! You guys (Sheila included) have amazing talent. I know you hear it all the time...but I love you! :) And you can bet your bottom dollar that my husband and I will be there again next year! :) yay!

I want to give a shout out to my peeps from CA.... in the front row ;) (It's me... Erin... the girl in the green shirt...from UTAH! )

Mucho XOXO...til' next time :)

P.S. Dweezil, tell Pete to cut that hair! The Castaway look doesn't do it for me :) Love you long time! :)

This was the third ZPZ show I've seen in the past year (Milwaukee and Chicago) and I have never been disappointed. I loved the new setlist. Penguins in Bondage and Torture were great adds!

Thank you Gail, Dweezil, Joe and the band for bringing Franks music back to the people! Keep doing what you're doing and I hope to see you again.

This was my first exposure to Frank's music and I have to say, I was very impressed. A guitar player friend of mine, who is a big Zappa fan, had an extra fifth row ticket and invited me along and I am really glad I went. After the show, I barrowed Overnight Sensation and Apostrophe and the two albums have been in heavy rotation on my iPod ever since (in between Hemispheres and Moving Pictures of course...hehe). I am really glad that I had this experience because now I am aware of this music. The tour worked exactly as planned for me. I am now exposed to an area of music that I was previously ignorant of.

But more than that, watching Dweezil play really had an impact on me. I’ve been playing guitar as a hobby for almost 30 years now and I’ve reached a certain level as far as technical ability goes. I’m no pro but as a huge Rush fan; I have studied Alex Lifeson to an extent and can play a lot of the bands songs. But watching Dweezil play up close like that really changed me. He made me realize just how much more there is that I can be doing. Dweezil is so damn good. He’s expressive and clean and a very fluid player. I was so impressed; I’ve been practicing more and more ever since the show. Dweezil really changed my life in a way. He exposed me to this beautiful music as well as inspired me to be a better guitar player.

Thanks to Frank and thanks to Dweezil. Oh…and thanks do my buddy “Dizz” who thought of me when he found himself with an extra ticket for the ZPZ tour.

Incredible show---Dweezel is gorgeous! I love the venue and they played wonderfully, words escape me! Took my teenage daughter--don't think she had heard Zappa before. When we got home, she was downloading Zappa classics on i-tunes! Just bought tickets for the July concert in Cleveland!
