Did you attend the ZPZ show at the Cascade Theatre in Redding?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Thanks to Dweezil and company for the Nor Cal dates and another great show. I have a whole group of friends that love FZ's music but never had the chance to see him live, so this was fantastic. All of them had high expectations and none were disappointed. Dweez asked who had seen ZPZ before and who hadn't, and it seemed there was about equal amounts of each. He then asked for fan response as to who wanted to hear Billy the Mountain and who didn't, since it's a half hour long, and fortunately the ayes had it. I concur with the posted set list with the addition of 'Let the Racoons Scratch Your Face' inprov post 'I'm the Slime' and pre 'Torture Never Stops'. All tunes up to Slime were played on the SG, then during the Pound for a Brown solos, DZ switched to the Strat, and returned to the SG for the encore tunes. The show was nearly sold out, only a few seats available, but what can one expect for one of the reddest counties in CA. I had to laugh as a few couples (very few) walked out not knowing what the hell was going on. Yet those FZ virgins that remained for the band solos must have realized that these people on stage were musicians of the highest caliber. This was my 10 year old son's first live ZPZ experience and as a young musician, he was awestruck. The first thing he said as he woke up was, "Man, was that a great concert or what?" Yes, my lad, it was that. Thanks again, Dweezil & Co. The lad and I will see you tonight in Sac.

I had a four hour drive to the show by myself, then drove back after the show in the middle of the night. It was well worth it. I've seen Frank's videos, owned his whole collection by age 14, then had to buy the collection again when CDs came out. I missed seeing Frank and regreted it. (It wasn't my fault; I was only 13 and my mom wouldn't let me ride with some older high school kids to a show in Albq.) You have to see this music performed live. Personally, nothing is more satisfying than witnessing the level of musicianship these guys (and gal) have attained. It's inspiring. I'll be stepping up my own practice time because of it. This show is all about the music. If you've never seen ZPZ, you are on notice, fool!

The Cascade is a great place to see ZpZ. It was my 4th time seeing them, and by far my favorite. I saw them on January 2nd this year and was disapointed with the venue. This time I heard everything from begining to end. The set list was different, and getting to actually HEAR billy the mountain was great.

Our first time seeing ZPZ,it was a great experience. We sat down by Scheila, is there anyone else in the world that can do what she does? We thought Ray White was the man. Everyone else was amazing also, but I'll never forget seeing Scheila just feet away. To me she was the show and everyone else was just helping her. I don't mean that in a bad way for the other members. She was just so close and so much a part of the show.

"NANCY GRACE"with foil improv to the MAX !!!!... i'm the slime was a crowd favorite of the night from the shear clamping alone i felt the venue move... nice place, good all around sound... very enjoyable show from the set list we missed out on gas station, san ber'dino, illinois enema bandit, cosmik debris, and muffin man ... YET I WAS COMPLETLY DRAINED AND SATISFIED... i talked with with dweezel what a role model .. i asked if we could get a OUTSIDE NOW or A PACKARD GOOSE TONIGHT IN SACRAMENTO ...he said he they had not played them in a while and would look it over at sound check ... all i can do is dream of guitar notes the would irritate executive kinda guy...... i'm off to the show...this is jimmy from the white zone ...see ya later

Incredible show! Thank you to Dweezil and company for coming to Redding. Never got to see Frank. I'm sure he would be proud of Dweezil for making this happen. Incredible guitar work from Dweezil and awesome musicianship from all members of the band. Thank you, Thank you.

Heya..Thank you for bringing us Zappa music...
Great band,Scheila was especially good. And you, kido, have worked your ass off putting this all together.Ray, damn! still pumpin..could hear him ten ft. off the mike.Drums have been playing me now for 50yrs(this yr. annv.)& Joe was outstanding.I don't know about the sound..When everyone was cookin the bottom to lower-mid sounded a little muddy to me,but whatdafwak,I'm half deaf anyway..
A couple of times, I had to look twice @ you w/ that SG and T-shirt...you're a gonner if you grow a Mustache...I liked the little lick you threw in on one solo where you were way up high on the E and doing overtone hits w/ the pick..nice
I'm glad you gave me a chance to bring my son to hear see and enjoy such fine muscians...It's a little unnerving to hear a third grader running around the house singing 'Sex' or 'Bobby Brown'...He's 19 now...
I remember a gorgeous summer nite show @ the ampatheater in USD San Diego,'77 or '78?[it's that seventies thang] sitting behind the light board w/ long time friend Coy F. watching the band play.......... You my friend, have done everyone Proud!
Nuttinbutlove,Billy da mountain
*Ethel sends her regards

Just moved to Redding from the Bay Area...was thrilled to drive down California St. and see the marquee,"Zappa plays Zappa" in Redding...couldn't believe my eyes!!! I was unable to attend your show at the Fillmore a couple years back, but wasn't about to miss this one. Dweez, I didn't ever want anyone to try to play like your Pop which is much different than playing his compositions with talented improvisationalists like the members of your band. I am elated that you have taken the time to keep his music alive with the respect it deserves.

I grew up to his music in the seventies. When he passed, I was crushed. He was my idol. The message that came to me was to always believe in what you do and do it with all your heart through his music. Your ability to showcase his magic compositions was one of the most amazing live performances I have ever seen. You honored his music and allowed each member of the band to "work out" in their soli, not just walk through some sort of mundane tango event. And to feel Ray's presence in the room, well you know what I'm talking about. And wasn't that the famed guitar that Frank played at the Roxy?

If I only had a few words, rather than this bix box to fill, I would say to you, "Well done lad." A finer group of musicians willing to take a risk and not play "pedestrian music" is all I can ever hope for in a concert. Keep it up, and PLEASE come back to the Cascade Theater in Redding again. We need a class act for our classy little theater!

Peace and love to you and your family, advanceromancelance.

Great show! Sound was great! Docsorry, I was a few rows in front of you and was nice to see a youngster in the audience. It was my first time at this venue and it was very comfortable. If there was a floor to stand on up front I would have been on it rockin' out. Dweezil signed autographs and answered questions after the show. Very generous and kind man.
