The band is playing with high energy, some songs very much up tempo, but so smooth. They make it look so easy. They just love to play this music. Every bandmember takes one or more solo’s and they are very inspired and inspiring. Maybe Dweezil is a bit to hard on himself sometimes, he wants to get every sound and every note just right and often he does, which makes him one of the best guitarplayers ever, with a unique style.
There was a great atmosphere in the Oosterpoort. The crowd knew when to scream and shout and when to let the music speak for itself. This was my fourth ZPZ experience. The first one was the première in Amsterdam, May 15 2006. So exciting, I didn’t know what to expect then, a once in a lifetime event. This last one in Groningen was the nicest, almost a different band, playing so naturally. And Ben Thomas... he’s about as evil as a boogie man can be!
