Did you attend the ZPZ show at Stodola in Warsaw?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

I have been over there, just came back home. It was so great over 2 hours of fantastic music. I'm sure that Dweezil & Co. were also happy and they are impressed by polish audience.
It was one of the best concerts in my life. I still hear music in my ears, and I have a Ticket with autographs and guitar pick from Dweezil in my hand.
I'm sure that Frank is proud.

Dweezil - thank you.

The show was amazing! Actually, I cannot even call it a show - it was a musical experience!!! I've been to lots of shows, but none of them were even close. These guys really rule!
The sax solos were incredible... My jaw hit the floor.. couple of times...
One thing I couldn't stay. All my life I though I was really good at armpit-farting. But the voc is a real virtuoso...
Hope ZPZ will visit Poland again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can still feel the thrills up and down my spine and they’re not these cheap ones ;)

3. Wind Up Workin’ In a Gas Station – segue

A brilliant show ! It was my second encounter with ZPZ and I should say it was even better than few years ago in Falconer, Copenhagen.
There's nothing more to add ...exept....Ben Thomas, new vocalist. His voice and humor magnificently amalgamates with Franks music.

Hope to c u again soon:-)))

Dweezil, thank you!
It was a great show, and the longer it was the better it was becoming.
Thank you the the musicians, too.
Everybody was brilliant, and I noticed that, traditionally, marimba man, Billy this time, was under the biggest stress.
But your saxofonist, Sheila deserves special applaud, what she did with those saxofones made everybody tremble and shiver.
Thank you for your playing, and, by the way, we remember waht you said about those tapes labelled 'Poland' in your vault, I truly hope you will dig some more and find them.
Greetings,
Andrzej

Yesterday I made an exception... I mean I actually don't go very eagerly to the live shows and prefer watching them on DVD (maybe it's strange, but I don't care). There are only very few artists I would like to see in concert (most of them, unfortunately, had already passed away), therefore I would had never expected that I'd ever have an opportunity to enjoy FZ music played alive. I was extremely and very pleseantly surprised when I discovered ZPZ project, but I never thought that you guys would ever come to Poland. Much to my surprise, it finally happened. Frank had never played in Poland (he was to cooperate with one of the Polish orchestras in the early '80, but eventually nothing came out of it - what a shame, by the way) so yesterday gig was the very first time!
I must say that I was the first person who bought tickets for that show (I know it for sure :) ) and really enjoyed the possibility of sitting in front of all of you. Great privilege, I tell you!
That evening was a real musical fiesta, however I suppose you must be a little bit tired of such an extensive (and intensive) touring. But you were great yesterday and I hope you enjoyed the atmosphere too.
You played many great tunes most of which I honestly adore (Dweezil - you're a great conductor of your magnificent orchestra), although I prefer Frank's music of the 60' and early 70', so a little part of stuff you played was not neccessarily my favourite, but it was performed so vigorously and perfectly that I really loved it. All in all, it was an exhilirating experience and I would like to thank you all very much. I hope we'll meet soon again in Poland.
Keep on touring guys, enjoy it and next time play "Andy", please :)
Best wishes,
Maciek Ch.
PS
It's a great shame that ZPZ DVD was not available among other memorabilia. I already got it some time ago (it was also shown on Polish TV), but I assume many people would like to buy it and it's not easy in Poland.
And, last bot not least, release "Roxy" DVD at last, please!

I've seen YeS , King Crimson, Pat Metheny Group, Dream Theater and others but You're probably the best !!!
What i love about this band is a perfect tone of each musician, I love Scheila !!! She did some awsome sax solos. I like the band attitude to music, it's just happiness. Anyway Zomby Woof, Outside Now, Black Napkins, Inca Roads, all Roxy stuff is something i'd remember till the end. I've got new heroes.
I hope they'll stay with Ben on vocals because he's a good man on good place. What else ? I think the audience was pretty cool too ( 9 years old kid with Gov't Mule Shirt), and there was a chemistry between us and band.

WE'RE WAITNING FOR MORE !!! POLAND LOVES YOU !!!

Ben's voice fits perfectly to the music.
His version of "Bamboozled by Love" was totally awesome, "Inca Roads" as well (special polish version with "Sto lat" :-))
I hope he will stay with ZPZ for longer time.
C U Next Time.

Great concert, great experience, so much fun! I have never seen THE MASTER on the stage in my life, but I have seen a many Zappas cover bands with alumnis, and believe me, Ike, Napoleon, Mick, Don, Scott, Athur and the rest- still alive and kicking - but they are a bit of NOSTALGIA stuff. ZPZ seems to be real and true. Fully professional, pretty great musicians. They play a G-spot tornado!!! They were dancing on the stage! Farts! Ben’s tambourine beetween Scheila’s legs! Orgazmic frenzy!

And the music was the best...

Thank You Dweez&Co!

Dweezil, Scheila and the rest of the band,
Thank you for your Warsaw performance. You were fantastic and the gig was marvellous!
I am wondering how Dweezil has managed to find such excellent musicians. First of all I mean Scheila who is so devoted to music in general, but each one - including a new singer - seems to be very devoted to Frank's heritage.
There was just one composition "Lucille" which perhaps didn't fit the rest but I guess the band simply needed to take a rest for a while.
Thank you for "Willie The Pimp" which ended the concert... it brought the whole audience to dance, including the oldest fans.

I am already thinking about your next concert in Poland, I hope you will play again in Warsaw or elsewhere:-) In the meantime, I look forward to new ZPZ DVDs and CDs and any FZ material as soon as Joe digs into the archives again.

It was a great pleasure to talk for a while with Scheila, Dweezil, Ben and Billy when I was collecting their autographs and getting a guitar pick from Dweezil. Thank you.

See you next time:-)
Slawek

The show was wonderful, I won't say anything new here. Two hours (or nearly two hours - I didn't check the time) of great performance, it was a real pleasure to be there. At first I thought I will miss Ray White or other Frank band's members but now, after the show, I feel you all are much more powerful and authentic playing on your own - and yes, the new singer was very, very good indeed!

What I would like to say is, the whole ZPZ project is something absolutely unique in the world of music and my thanks go to Dweezil for putting together this awesome band and showing us how Frank's music sounds when played live and today. I think (although it's only my supposition) that taking a career in music after a father like Frank was not an easy option (although it might seem so at the beginning) and I really admire the way you present Frank's work, keeping the old fans satisfied and adding your own character to the music at the same time. I really hope you will gradually add your own compositions to the set, after all it is ZPZ and not necessarily ZPFZ band. :-)

And, last but not least, many, many thanks for Dweezil and all the musicians for the time you've spent signing autographs and chatting with us after the concert - that was really very nice of you. I can't wait for your next show in Poland!

The concert that night was really... wow!

Excellent beginning - Black Napkins, Montana and the one of the pieces i was waiting for - Wind up Workin' in a Gas Station.

Then - someting very interesting - Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy - very nice you played something from "Bongo Fury"

Next one- all the "Roxy and Elsewhere" "suite" - great "Village of the Sun" and dynamic "Echidna's Arf" and nice blend to "Don't You Ever Wash That Thing"

"Dirty Love" - love your vocals Ben. You guys found excellent vocalist which suits perfectly the atmosphere of Frank's music with his energy and humor.

The brigtest spot of the night - "Peaches and Regalia" and something i haven't even dreamed you'll play - "G-spot Tornado"! Excellent performance of that incredibly difficult piece. (And by the way one of my favorites).

"Inca Roads" with great solos (all of them were great).

"Lucille" and "Outside now" - two superb "ballads". Frankly speaking - I've never noticed "Outside now" on the album, but it's such a great song, and you performed it even better than the studio/album version!

"Pound for a Brown" - what stunning improvs - funky Pete's bass, Ben's freaky "african chant/jewish psalm with virtuoso farting" solo. What a sense of rhytm in your armpit! There was Billy's melodic, great vibes (but without appropriate applause), Joe's heavy drumming and Scheila's jaw-dropping sax. And last but not least Jamie's and Dweezil's rockin' guitar solos. It's awesome how you play with the music, having so much fun.

Nice finish with "Cosmik Debris", and energetic encores - "Zomby Woof" and "Willie the Pimp".

Really, really magnificient playing. I'm really amazed that you're not only great musicians but also such warm and kind, patiently giving autographs to the crowd with smile and some little chit-chat sometimes!

Deliciousness...

Hope, that I'll see some more of your playing, maybe in Poland again. I could eat my shoes for that with my strings and socks, even with the box, but i don't think I'll manage the truck...

Keep up the good work and thanks for the unforgettable experience!
