Did you attend the ZPZ show at Symphony Hall in Birmingham?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

What an amazing night.

I'm fairly new to Frank's music so I only recognized about half the songs (if someone could post the setlist that would be great!). Every moment was pure fun and entertainment. The songs have been masterfully arranged and performed by the best band for the job. I often find myself getting a bit bored when a gig has too many solo's. However, the solos were beautiful from all the band members.

It's great to see an artist inject a bit of humor and silliness into the performance. The audience improv was great.

Unfortunately, Birmingham audiences can be a bit reserved. Dweezil and the band still managed get us all going. Everyone was very into the performance (especially me).

Ben Thomas is perfect as the new vocalist. His voice is great and he fits right in with the band and the music.

I could go on forever describing just how special tonight was, but you should already know what an amazing job these guys have done with Frank's music. ZPZ is so much more than just a tribute act. Dweezil has taken the music in his own direction.

I can't wait for the next tour. I want to hear "titties and beer" and "I'm the slime" next time though!

If anyone has the setlist, I'd appreciate if you could share it.

Once again, thank you Dweezil and the rest of the band for a great night.

Heyas,

can't agree more. Great show, great music and musicians from outher space.

Just missed one song: Son of orange County, one of my alltime favourites!

Got a Gary Coleman pick and my O/H got a Lou Ferigno :)

Setlist would be great, can't remember all of the songs and at least 2 I didn't know.

I beg pardon for using that name, but I have used it for years and I'm quite fond of it *grinssheepishly*

Nuff said

Wow wow and wow again.

Loved it. This is a dream come true for me and many others i'm sure. Dweezil even signed my ticket after the show and was kind enough to share a few words with me.

I was at the Royal Albert Hall show in 2006 and have been waiting for you to come back ever since then. I have fond memories of you using the pipe organ back then amazing.

Thanks for another wonderful evening.

please come back soon.

That was without doubt the best concert I have ever seen. With a huge amount of songs to play from Frank's massive back cat it must be hard to pick what to play but last nights set was first class. can anyone tell me what music was been played before the concert many thanks

What a great gig. Unfortunately they started about half an hour late, so to get the last train we had to miss the end but my vague recollections of the setlist:

Purple Lagoon
Yellow Snow
Montana
St Alphonso
Pygmie Twilight
Village of the Sun
Echidna's Arf (complete with the 'hey everybody, watch billy' bit from Roxy)
Inca Roads
Peaches En Regalia
G Spot Tornado
Pound for a brown - 45 minute version with audience participation, middle eastern beatboxing from Ben and band solos
Outside Now
Bamboozled by love

And I have no idea what the encore was! Please tell me they didn't do I'm the slime and Regyptian strut.

Encores were Stinkfoot, Cosmik Debris and Zomby Woof.
Zomby woof rocked the roof off, with Ben showing what his voice is capable of. If he gets some more numbers rehearsed and really lets rip,he'll be up there with the greats!
Great show guys, even enjoyed the pre gig sounds of Shuggie Otis and Jeff beck.

Ah man. So the guy who yelled out for Stinkfoot at the beginning got his wish!
Looks like it was a great encore. Smashing show all the way through.

Did I miss any from the main setlist?

Great, Great, Great Gig...Willie The Pimp was also played in the Encore...So 4 Tunes including first airing of Stinkfoot in over a year (according to Dweezil).

Fantastic Musicians....Good Sound....Slightly Quiet Audience.

Dweezil was very generous with his time, plectra and pen at the end.

Thanks for a great night, guys and gal.

What time did the whole thing come to an end?

They really are stunning musicians, but they manage to blend it so well with humour and charm. Ben is such a great singer and performer - he really took the audience participation thing.

And my fiancee nailed it when we came out - 'Dweezil - he's just so...cool'. She's right - the man exudes coolness. Ben too - I bet Frank would love to have had him in one of his bands. He had such range, he could pull off Frank's and Napolean Murphy Brock's parts equally brilliantly

around 11. after the show dweezil signed a lot of things, answered questions and gave out a lot of guitar picks.

he is beyond cool. a professional without superstar ambitions. he seemed to be the nice next door neigbour after the show and you really got the impression he enjoyed talking to the audience.

Sounds great. I wish I'd been able to stay around, but will make sure I can next time.
Nice to hear Dweezil seemed to enjoy speaking to everyone - hopefully will be able to say hello next time they hit the UK.

i too am still stoked from last night.i didn't think i could enjoy the show anymore than i did on sunday at shepherds bush, how wrong can you be!!!
being a proud black country boy with birmingham dear to me as my home city, i truly love the symphony hall, a fantastic room.i couldn't even dream it would stage a zpz show.now i'm sure i won't see a better show there.....until the next zpz!!
on that point i hope and pray that may happen but sadly the show was nowhere near sold out and with our usual midlands reserve we didn't really get going on the reaction front until it was almost over, did we?plus it was past the "powers that be" bed times when it finished and due to the bands much appreciated meet and greet, i could see a few of them filling in overtime sheets!!however, i hope the band got the feeling that their visit to brum was greatly appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed by the lucky people there.
stopping waffling for a while, plaudits again all round, can't say enough about the quality of the musicians on stage.
3rd time i've had the pleasure of a few words with dweezil, scheila was as beautiful in feature as spirit(thanks for the photo and letting me sneak a little peck!!) but special mention to ben.enjoyed his performance on sunday but a little too wrapped up in the atmosphere in london to perhaps appreciate how good the guy is.i was able to be a bit more studious in my "comfortable seats" at symphony hall.filling the shoes of ray, ike, nmb i think would be a daunting task, but this guy can carry it off.boy can he belt it out but he appears to have the attitude to fit the role as well.good luck ben, hope it works for you as well, and that the enjoyment is there to carry it on for a good few tours yet.
thanks for the chat and taking time out for a photo with my son & daughter who have instantly become massive fans of yours...
bostin!!!(as they say in these parts)
