Did you attend the ZPZ show with Dream Theater at the Riverside Theatre Centre in Milwaukee?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

great show - too bad ZPZ wasn't headlining, would have been longer and better. versions were great - band is awesome....me (50) and my kids (19 b, 17b, 13g) all loved it, and are already fast fans.....I would have rather seen ZPZ play in a smaller venue (Turner Hall maybe here in Milwaukee) and be the main act, but I understand Dweezil's motiviation - so no complaints.

Like another reviewer, I am hoping soon to see DZ add some compositions and branch off a little, which he can certainly do all the while keeping his goal of putting Frank's music out there.

I have a question for Dweezil, if he reads these - do you play any of Frank's guitars in shows, or are those under glass somewhere? Just a curiosity thing -

All the best, thanks for a great show and for keeping the music alive -

Great show!!! SERIOUSLY talented band!
I too would rather see ZPZ again as a headliner as they were when at Summerfest 1 yr ago (Potawatomi stage), which was also fabulous and by far the best band I've seen at Summerfest to date IMO.
As for the other bands, we were impressed by BigElf, never heard them before. Dream Theater was also very good but I'm more a Zappa fan than that of Dream Theater.
I had seen Frank, Mothers 4 Xs in my life since '73 (I'm 52 now) and I'm glad that Dweezil's keeping his dads legacy alive because no one else could possibly pull that off as well otherwise. I too hope that Dweezil and the band keep learning more of FZs material, a very extensive collection. I have 50+ albums and I still don't have them all yet.
I also appreciate their own unique spin on various tunes. I don't think that Frank ever played his own tunes exactly the same each time either, seemed to always improvise a bit.
Looking forward to the next show here and yes, as a headliner. The two times I've seen the ZPZ tour, I was hoping they'd play longer as I can never get tired of hearing Franks material.

I took my son (11 years old) to this show as he is a big Dream Theater fan. I wanted to go as I am a big fan of Dweezil's but did not know much about Frank's music. After the show was done, I headed right to the store to pick up some of Frank's music. Was really blown away at how great the music was. And the musicians were off the charts.

Thank you Dweezil and band for opening up my eyes.

I never got to see Frank, so this meant alot to me. The band was great, but Dweezil is obviously the reason I came. Anyhow, Village of the Sun & Inca Roads were sublime. Thank you for lovingly preparing and performing Frank's music for us...

DZ;

Great show, the band is tight and we would have loved more! This was my sons’ second ZPZ show, and we both had a great time. Damn, I miss your dad. His music is unparalleled, and his intellect and humor were an incredible influence on me. Thank you and the band for carrying on his legacy!

I am the one who walked up and put the tee shirt on stage. We gave your father one in Madison, WI in 1984 or 85 at the Civic Center. My buddy nearly got thrown out by security, but was able to get back to his seat. One of the roadies folded up the shirt and presented it to you dad while he was playing. He read it, and took it from the guy and changed into it on stage. He played the entire show with it on. I would have loved a pic of him, but his policy was no pics after the first ten minutes. Anyway I thought you might like one.

Please come to Madison next tour.

Patrick and Ian

I saw Frank several times back in the day and I have to admit, I was not able to appreciator his music the way I can now. Thank you for keeping his music live on stage for all his past present and future fans. Every time the show comes to town (the highlight of my year) I introduce a new person to the music. They are all instant fans and can't believe what they've been missing! I have one complaint and that is with the fans. lets buy enough tickets that the band can play all night in a decent theater such as the Riverside. The show at the Rave in 07 was great but the acousics sucked. I'll be sitting on the edge of my seat till next year.
