Did you see ZPZ at Teatro de la Ciudad in Mexico City?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

I'm only 24 years old. I first listened to Freak Out when I was 14 years old and I still remember clearly how my mind began to slowly being blown away. Since that day, my mind changed, my life changed, I had been touched by the Music of Frank Zappa, the music that changed my life. I had entered the Zappa Universe!!! 10 years later, I get the news that Zappa Plays Zappa is coming to Mexico. I had to take a bus and roll all the way down from Chiapas to Mexico City, and let me tell you.... It was A-MA-ZING, really you guys pay a real hommage to the music of THE MASTER. From the very beginning it felt magical, to the very last notes of Cosmik Debris. The Blue Light was amazing, Blessed Relief made me cry, Inca Roads blew me away (in fact every song of the catalogue you played blew my brains off!!!), to begin with, the sound quality was amazing, cheers to the sound engineer, GREAT WORK!!!...then... Dweezil's guitar playing is fucking absolutely great, he gets really really close to FZ's style, well... in fact that was his aim, so...haha...I am Deeply thankful to you and my biggest respect goes out to you as well, for achieving this; Sheila's incredible talent on keyboards and wind instruments is admirable, Pete's solo would even made Jack Bruce say "hey!", Billy is amazing on everything he plays, HE'S AN OCTOPUS!!!, and myself being an amateur drummer, what can I say about Joe? HYPERKINETIC DRUMMING!!!... the vocals by Ben were great too, he has a wide range of vocals from the low one's immitating FZ, to any other higher pitched vocal he would execute, his harmonica duel with Dweezil was amazing too, and his trumpet playing was also great (Big Swifty was OUT OF THIS WORLD), plus he was such a funny guy! And Jamie, he played the guitar with such a feeling and passion, man, wath a great performance he gave...ALL OF YOU GUYS DID!!...and the other guy, I'm sorry, I don't remember his name quite well since he was supposed to be a new member, but he sang and played those keyboards and synthetesizers like a motherfucker, his vocals on Inca Roads (and everything he sang) were great too; Plus at the ending of the show you stayed there and signed stuff for us, took photographs, what a nice feeling!, and what a great night!! thanks for those beautiful moments!!! I will remember it clearly for all my life!! Hope you come back soon!!! Me and all Zappa enthusiasts in Mexico will be waiting!! I want to be there again!! and again!!

Hi there ! I want to congratulate the band for such a nice concert, a great display of talent ! I don´t usually go out to any live
performance of music ... unless this music means so much to me. It was really interesting to see such a variety of generations
attending the event, for this is really timeless music ! Dweezil deserves heaven for what he is doing, because Frank´s music is not only good music, it´s the vehicle of a lifechanging experience, or even a lifesaving treatment. I was amazed by all the band members, Ben Thomas is really a great showman, Sheila brings joy to the show with her eternal smile (she also has great lungs to play the saxophon at 7000 feet above sea level ! ), Dweezil enters in a sort of transe while he is playing ( his guitar notes sent shivers down my spine ) and i particularly found fabulous the autograph session at the end of the show ... few artists are that close to their fans. I hope you will come back soon to Mexico ... i am sure there are many Zappa fans around here who couldn´t come to the show and would be happy to have a second chance ... anyhow you can count on me to be a joyful terpsichore in any further show !! Take it easy and Good Luck in this relentless tour :-) !!!

I became a FZ fan in 1995, before that I listened to the traditional classic rock.
By curiosity I bought the "Broadway the Hard Way" CD and started to listen all the sounds, all the rythms and thought about the kind of musicians who were capable to play like that,..it was amazing !!

I was sitting on my Computer one day reviewing the ZPZ page,...and for my surprise,..there was a date for a Concert in Mexico City,...I couldn't believe what I was looking !!
Inmediately I bought my concert and plane tickets,.....and the day of the Concert I left my work early and caught the plane to Mexico City and from there directly to the Teatro de la Ciudad.

The Concert was great,...the music fantastic,...Dweezil and the group are very well integrated,..it shows that they have kept the same discipline of rehearsing that Frank had,...musicianship showed in every single note.
I enjoyed every single song !!

Thanks Dweezil and Sheila for had been so nice at the end of the show and gave me your autographs !!
I will remember this concert all my life !!
Please return back soon to Mexico,..or at least,..the next time you visit Austin or San Antonio,..be sure that I will take my two daughters to your concert,...they are also fans of your music.

DZ,..keep your dad's music alive,...for the new generations of citizens of the world. In my own particular piece of the world I am a big promotor of Zappa music.
