Did you see ZPZ at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, VA?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

This was the third ZPZ concert that I had tickets for, but the first that I was able to attend- well worth the wait! The band was tight, and really having a good time with the performance. This is really a great thing Dweezil has put together to continue spreading the experience of Frank's music. Dweezil- thanks for taking the time to visit with your fans after the show. You signed a photo of
Frank that I had taken back in the early 80's. I took several shots at this show (Green Bay, WI., I believe) and told you I would send you prints if you like. Just tell me where to send... -they are old-school photos, not digital, so I cannot email them. I saw a lot of under 30's in the crowd... nice to see the dream alive. I can't really pick-out an individual performance because everyone was so on their game. Audience participation segment provided by the Danielle was a nice touch. I see she made it to youtube within hours of the show! Please come back to Virginia!

Botanical Gardens were rocked and jazzed hard.

2nd time seeing the band. After seeing the first show at Hat Factory earlier this year, became an instant fan. Dragged two friends to this show. Two more instant converts.

Few if any touring bands these days combine the chops and catalog that ZPZ does. Purple Lagoon is a total groove monster and a great way to open shows (if memory serves correctly, this was also the opener at Hat Factory).

Dweezil is Kobe, but Ben channeled Pau Gasol for the victory this night. The entire band was Showtime.

Thanks for coming, and as so many have said previously, thanks for being a total class act and sticking around after the show to talk and sign merch. Looking forward to next show and turning more people on to it.

Finally got to see ZPZ on their 3rd visit to Richmond. What a great show; still buzzin'. Being familiar with the ZPZ DVD I knew what to expect, but of course seeing this project live is what it's all about. Dweezil is still turning over new stones, looking for new ideas and channeling Frank better than ever. Plus the stereo effects on the rig are just enormous. And then there was Jaime Kime - his solo spot - bottleneck slide passage then hugely overdriven Marshall lead - was fantastic. They need to let him out more often. We were seated front and center near the steps into the reserved seats. People kept leaping onto the landing, to dance wildly, and then would run off. Normally I would complain about an obstructed view, but this was a Zappa show, and dancing is part of the show. Kudos to the security guard for letting this happen. My only criticism - 'Purple Lagoon' with Brecker in New York is such a fantastic tune - let Scheila's sax tear that puppy up and get Pete on fretless!

'Yo Mama' for the encore blew me away- didn't expect that, having seen previously posted setlists. Leaving the show, I felt Frank must be so damn proud. Anytime ZPZ comes around Richmond again, I'm there.

I was blown away at the Denver show and happened to be on vacation in Virginia Beach last week. Whoa, I find there's a show in Richmond Thursday night. Drove two hours, arrived in horrible heat, killed time in the shade. Virginia is hot as blazes. Bought two for $50, had my older bro along, who introduced all of the cool music into the house starting in 1971.

Temp cooled down by showtime, mercifully. Got relaxed and sucked it all in.

Performances were superb, as expected. What a unique and incredible assortment of songs and sounds. Word has got to spread about this group. Tell yo' friends, tell yo' fiends, tell yo' mama, tell yo' priest, tell yo' rabbi, tell yo' evil twin to get off their butts and check these folks out. Greatest musical gig goin' right now.
