Did you see ZPZ at Lupo's in Providence, RI?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

i went to the concert last night. im 16 years old and my brother is 22. it was my second time seeing zappa plays zappa. i first saw them last year at progressive nation but didn't know any of the music and they are what got me into zappa. i had never been to Lupo's before and im kind of glad of that. it was a pretty crappy venue. i was in general admission which considering for what it cost was not that great of an area. it was a bit small and sort of crushed between the seats up front and the bar.
obviously the venue isn't too important so its on to the show it self. they are truly a very talented group to see and have great chemistry on stage. my biggest disappointment would have to be the set list. i feel that every song was very long. they played around 2 and a half hours but probably only played 12 to 15 songs at most. i think thats fine but it should have been a good balance. Frank Zappa has many great songs that are 2 to 3 minutes long. i think they should have cut just 2 songs they played and played a bunch of short ones such as; Bobby Brown (Which would blow my mind), Big Leg Emma, Lemme Take you to the beach, Baby Snakes, For the Young Sophisticate, Can't Afford No shoes, Jones Crusher, Broken Hearts are for Assholes (which would have also blown my mind), and finally Tell me you love me. all that would have taken roughly 20 to 25 minutes and i think all those fun songs would have been awesome. and one last note on the set list i feel if they were selling shirts that said titties and beer than they should have at least played the song considering $30 for a shirt of a song they didn't play is a bit much. Im not trying to say i didn't enjoy the show since it was a very good show. City of Tiny Lites was awesome. i don't know his name but the keyboard player who sang on it was outstanding. he seemed hidden the whole show but really shined on that song. the lead vocalist is amazing. he truly does sound just like frank and just watching him and the whole band live is awesome. Dweezil was obviously very good and Schelia who i liked from the first show as well truly is so talented its amazing. all in all it was a great night and im glad i went.

Wonderful! This was my 7th ZPZ show. I have seen every version of the group thus far, and this newest group is wonderful! Thanks again for yet another ear-gasm
I am one of those fanatical folks that buys every tib bit I can get my grubby little hands on and along with pumkin man above was just a little disapointed that the "meet and greet" that was promised with the special extra expensive tickets I got never actually happened. DZ is very kind and after every show goes to the edge of the stage and signs stuff, but I also had a different idea...

I am a photographer and brought my camera which wasn't allowed in but I did have the very good fortune to meet Jamie Kime. I accosted him whilst he was clipping his finger nails. He was kind enough to pose for a quick photo which is posted below. Thanks Jamie!

And thank you to DZ and Sheila for signing the CD I brought.

P.S. I am listening to the "Return of the Son of" CD I purchased at the show.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Awesome show! Third time seeing ZPZ and it is consistently a memorable occasion. So happy they came to Providence and played Lupo's. For those less familiar, it is a venue with a long history as one of those old music houses. Now I am only 26 but I saw my first concert there, the Ramone's farwell tour. It used to be the Strand. Old, run down, plaster falling from the ceiling when the rocking got heavy. They did a great job renovating it to what it is today. A very intimate setting considering ZPZ packs much larger houses. Lucky us!

Thank you for the set list. Big Swifty?! Blessed Relief?! Yeah! That City of Tiny Lights was another highlight. The new keyboardist is phenomenal.

Thanks again Dweezil for signing my ticket and coming to my town.

I don't like to put out requests but if you come around next tour, something I have been hoping to hear live for years is an instrumental run Frank did consisting of Let's Make the Water Turn Black -> Harry You're a Beast -> Orange County Lumber Truck -> Oh No. Thus far, my favorite rendition being on Ahead of Their Time (1993).

Other than that, thank you so much Dweezil and all the musicians who play with you for the amazing dedication and talent.
