Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

The lights were dim, the band was tight. No they didn't play Honey Honey Hey but the phrase sure fits. Dweezil has come a long way since I first saw him play with Frank and the best band you never heard of at the Beacon. He must have been around 16 at the time and he joined in the enchore of Whipping Post. Couldn't play worth crap back then but now.....very nice.

Great selection from the catalog and several surprises. Quite a bit from Mothers at the Fillmore. My Dick is a Monster, Little House I used to Live in, Latex Solar Beef. For me the highlight was Advance Romance. Can't remember the last time I put on Bongo Fury....until I got home last night. Other highlights were Blessed Relief, Apostrophe, Inca Roads. Even pulled Big Swifty out of his bag of tricks.

Keep playing Dweezil and I'll keep coming....sort of like chinese food on Christmas for me. The covenant.

I'd love to see the full horn section some time and a live version of Sofa.

Nice show Dweezil. The sound was good over all but there were some cluttered moments(Could have been where I was seated)Kind of a slow start though things got moving nicely. The Jazz areas came off outstandingly clear and enjoyable.Yes Sheila I heard some interesting quotes in Big Swifty. That was a monster tenor solo!!!!!!! I saw MB with Frank-nice to see a great sax again playing that music. The band was fine-I can only imagine the practice it takes to capture nuances from all those different era bands. And Dweezil you had some amazing moments-Dont listen to the "Greatest Hits Request Crowd"Pay tribute to what you feel and all the true fans will love it.I've been listening to Burnt Weeney Sandwich(your dad had a way with words...)Interesting stuff with many quotes heard in other work later. Is a Jazz tour in the works?I hope so..Havent missed a tour yet Thanks

Thank you all for a most memorable nite at the Klein... "Musical Archeology" can be quite a task - Dwezil (and friends) performed so true to Frank's vision that occassionly I closed my eyes and it was New Haven, Waterbury and NYC thirty years ago all over again. Scheila continues to amaze and adds fun energy too. See this band as many times as you can ... if you were a FZ fan , you will not be disappointed

Thanks for beating my high exspectations again. Your band is fantastic! Thanks for keeping your dads solos alive and well. It must be a great feeling to hear so many requests. I just hope your passion for keeping this tour going last long enough to check them off everyones list!

The Bridgeport concert was my 8th for ZPZ, my first was Houston in Dec 2006. Dweezil and crew, the set list was outstanding. I've wanted to see and hear "Blessed Relief" performed for over 30 years, thank you. I do believe Frank once said in an interview in guitar magazine, that is one song he would never change, meaning Frank couldn't have written or performed the song any better. To the band, you graciously played that song the Frank would have today. "Little House" the Filmore East version was amazing too, all the way through to "Willie The Pimp".

The SNL (Zappa In New York) version of I'm The Slime with Don "Billy Hulting" Pardo was tremen-gouse, simply tremen-gouse. Thanks again Billy.

My wife and grown children have our favorites but as a group we all love "Wild Love" followed by "Yo Mama". Thursday night I was at the end of a business road trip with an associate who hadn't listened to Frank's music in 25-30 years. My buddy couldn't believe what he was hearing. He kept repeating, "you can't hear music like this anymore" and he was new-bee to what he was hearing.

When the band went from Wild Love right into Yo Mama, I sent a text to all 5 of my kids, my wife and my son-in-laws. All I sent was "Yo Mama". It was very hard to add all of those names with tears streaming down my face. My phone blew up from all them. Mostly sending back "Mama".

After the show I had to drive to Newark for an early flight on Friday. I listened to all of "Live at the Filmore East" and of course Wild Love/Yo Mama. During my 4 hour flight home, nothing but Frank.

Thank you Dweezil and to all of you, please come back to Houston.

First thing’s first, here’s the setlist:

Stinkfoot
Daddy Daddy Daddy
What Kind Of Girl Do You Think We Are?
Lonely Little Girl
City of Tiny Lites
Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow
The Purple Lagoon
Inca Roads
Blessed Relief
The Blue Light
Advanced Romance
Big Swifty
Cosmik Debris
The Little House I Used To Live In
Latex Solar Beef
Willie The Pimp (pt. 2)
Apostrophe
Wild Love
Yo’ Mama
__________
Mystery Roach
Keep It Greasy
I’m The Slime

Great show, and as always just reading the setlist doesn’t really let you in on all the stuff that happens at the show. The new keyboard was really good, a better fit than Aaron was (in my opinion) and when he sang Inca Roads he certainly linked himself to the mind of George Duke!

Ben was really good this time, I saw them with Dream Theater last summer and he didn’t seem all the way there. I assure you… he’s arrived. He has the humor and now the voice that is essential to a Zappa show! The secret word of the night seemed to be Subway, he and Scheila worked it into the groupie routine early on and he talked about Jarod in Blue Light. The only missed opportunity was in Cosmik Debris, he should’ve said “You can make more money working at Subway…” oh well.

Also Ben was playing trumpet this time around, really good addition.

A lot of the songs segued of course, especially the Flo & Eddie/Fillmore material. Dweezil gave a lot of insight into his father’s music throughout the show, he demonstrated how the opening chords to Blessed Relief are the same to Outside Now, if you play them in reverse order. Cool stuff. He also hinted at the chance of Watermelon in Easter Hay being added to the setlist in the future, but he’s not emotionally there yet.

Scheila was great as usual, and her vocals early in the show were better than I remembered. She and Ben seem to have a fun time together, with Billy added in the mix sometime. Jamie’s solo of Advanced Romance was really good, better than some of Dweezil’s solos… I said some.
Pete was cool, his fuzz tone on Apostrophe was no good however. Gotta work on that, but I was happy to pick out he and Joe teasing Led Zeppelin’s The Crunge during the encore.

There’s more, but I’ll leave it to the other fans to post.
