Did you see ZPZ at The Mahaiwe in Great Barrington, MA?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Blessed Relief! An amazing show from start (what was that song from SUAPYG?) to finish, almost three hours of superb musicianship, energy, and music from the greatest composer. DZ and the band were spot on, extremely impressive, and the set list covered a great range. This was my third ZPZ show over three tours. Would love to hear "The Purple Lagoon" and "RDNZL" and other songs from the "Lather" era. THANK YOU for your talent, for performing, for this music, and very much for coming to the Berkshires - please keep us on the tour list next year!

The crowd in this place was right out of the movie Cocoon. No joke, these people were ancient and the place smelled like pee! I'm surprised any of them knew who Frank Zappa was, seeing as though he was from the "younger generation." Another thing that sucked was that everyone sat throughout the entire show, like they were at a Yo Yo Ma concert or something. This is a rock concert, people! Turn up your hearing aids and get up and dance!

The final thing that sucked was that there is no bar at the Mahaiwe. No food or drink allowed. I'm sure this contributed to the lameness of the crowd. If they could have at least helped a fews of those blue hairs fire up with a vodka gimlet or something, maybe the party would have started.

ZPZ was good though.

I have no idea what show "wookie" attended. It certainly was not the Mahaiwie Theatre show. He must have been at the James Taylor and Carole King concert at Tanglewood. (now your talking old people and the smell of pee ) I am 50 years old and have been a fan of Zappa since the mid sixties. Thanks to a older brother steering me in the correct direction. The Theatre was Beautiful, the acoustics were great. The Set list was great. This is the 3rd time seeing ZPZ. Thank you Dweezil for keeping the music alive!!!!!!!!! The band gets better everytime i see them. Shelia vocals were over the top. Ben was awesome. The newest addition Chris added great keyboard and vocal, He is a keeper. Dweezil and fellow bandmates, don't let Mental Midgets like "wookie" bother you. There is one in every crowd. He might have been the guy out in the alley before the show begging people to urinate on him.
Comment from my Wife:
Response to Wookie: Hey are you the guy that stood off to the right of the theatre; wiggled, gyrated and practically felt yourself up in what you thought was dancing? Frank Zappa was a master genius of musical composition. Frank brought together a grouping of notes and instruments that to this day elude the playing of profession musicians of all calibers. Dweezil Zappa has brought to life Frank’s music in the same manner; that is to surround himself with extremely talented musicians that repeatedly amaze the audience with new sounds and revealing otherwise hidden talent. Like symphony Frank’s music is appreciated by those of us with well tuned ears, who sat in awe at Dweezil’s ability to carry on were Frank, much too soon, left off. I saw Frank, people all stood through the entire concert and swayed to the tunes, cheered after each, and lingered in leaving the concert hall mesmerized and enthralled.

dear wookie,
I hope to god there aren't any rock concert fans at my next ZPZ concert. the last thing I need to ruin my concert experience is some rebel yelling, song calling, whistling airhead. As mike's wife said, Franks music is like a classical concert. One should sit and listen and when the piece is over give the appropriate acknowledgement to the performers. ZPZ is the best band you will ever hear and you can't truly enjoy their performance if you are yelling the whole show.
P.S. Dweezil, please come back to Phoenix soon. I can't stand the waiting much longer. I may have to leave my wife and follow the band like a dead-head.

WOWZA! FANTASTIC SHOW!!! Dweezil and company were incredible all night long, Dweezil only showing a momentary hesitation in the beginning of “The Blue Light”, which is not the easiest piece in the world to play let me tell you, what with all the Brut Cologna and such. And they pulled it off! DAMN! But hey, they also did “Inca Roads” PERFECTLY and that is also not the easiest piece in the world to play. (And I’m now officially in love with Scheila. And I'm not gay but I'm also feeling something for Ben Thomas.) I went to this show with my brother, who was lamenting the fact that he never saw Frank live, to which I replied “This is the closest you will ever come, ever”, and we weren’t disappointed. (I saw Frank twice in 1984 at SPAC and at Lowes, and on his last tour in 1988 at the Palace Theater in Albany, NY.) C’mon now! Dweezil also did ‘The Latex Solar Beef! ‘City of Tiny Lights! 'Advance Romance! 'Easy Meat! ‘Pick Me I’m Clean! ‘Peaches en Regalia! Best DZPZ show yet.
And yes, its true, there were a lot of old heads there, me included at 45. And we did manage to stand up on our walkers here and there during the show actually. And Dweezil signed my ticket! And so let’s do the math, if someone were a Zappa fan in 1968 say, and that person were say 23 years old then… mathematically they are now a 65 year old Zappa fan, so bite me Wookie.
