Did you attend this show at Phillipshalle in Dusseldorf?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Again a well played show.
Maybe it started at little bit lame. (everybody on a chair)
Not so many people as last year. (less Belgian and Dutch guys)
The crowd didn't get the 'thumbs up' stuff, later there was some more enthousiasm.
Only remark, the lightning is insufficient for the stage surface (huge stage), to dark.
We're missing the 'Z'-light.

They played for 2h05min. excl the 3 encores.

Zoot Allures
(Part of Packard Goose)-(Ship Ahoy)
City of tiny lights
Advance Romance
Doreen
Suzy Creamcheese
Brown shoes don't make it
America drinks
Cosmik debris
Carolina hardcore exctasy
Pygmy twilight
Dupree's Paradise
Uncle remus
Willy the Pimp
Joe's Garage
Wind up working in a gas station
San Ber'dino
Illinois enema bandit
----
Dog meat
G-spot tornado
Muffin man.

long signing session

Ray's chorus. "Somebody blew off my trailer, my dog commited suicide but at least I got Jesus "

PS : thnx to Dweezil for signing my "trance-fusion" booklet.
see ya for my last of four shows in Antwerpen.

So, what's to say ...
First, it was a great show. Not only a splendid Dweezil (he's gettin' better every year, I believe, he practices secretly) & Ray (what a voice) performance, the whole band was amazing.
But what about the audience? Those D#dorfers where so ... hmm ... lazy? They didn't get their asses from this chairs.
What an offense for the musicians. Hey D#dorfers, you do not even smell funny, you're already dead. After an excellent 'Illinois Enema Bandit' two dozen of people were standing up and moving to stage, Dweezil was joking: "It feels like a real rock show, with some people here in front of the stage ..."
At last my wishes for the next year's show (hope there'll be one): Dear D#dorfers, do not smoke whatever you did smoke yesterday, drink some cups of coffee or energy drinks ... AND WAKE UP!

[At very last, sorry about my lousy English, I'm from D#dorf]

Well, again a great show. The audience was more reserved than last year, though. I just can't see why.
Again, excellent musicians, and the incredible Ray White who made the show perfect.
Thx Dweezil. Looking forward to see you next year!

Hi,

yeah, it was another great show! I don't believe the relative quiet in the audience
was an offense to the musicians. I think most people were actually listening closely,
instead of merely freaking out, as suggested by Ray's T-shirt. And the music as
well as its performance were very well worth it. Let's face it, we are all beyond
the age of 16.

The correct reading of Ray's chorus, as I remember it, was

Someone blowed up my trailer home,
My dog committed suicide,
But I still have you, Jesus!

And what a fine song did he make of it!

Best

I missed the 2006 tour (shame on me) – so I couldn’t wait to see a show on the 2007 tour, followed the tour reviews for weeks – since it was my first ZPZ show I can’t compare the Dweezildorf show with others, but it was absolutely great and even better than expected!

It was so great to hear Frank’s music played live again – after so many years – with all the technical brilliance of the musicians playing it, the sense of humor, and the great guitar playing (by Dweezil) and of course the nostalgy of listening to Ray White’s voice – the music was so powerful and mindblowing! one could feel the spirit from the original FZ shows.

therefore I really was totally surprised from the audiance’s reaction, it was so reserved (was I really the only one who wanted to give the band standing ovations, let’s say, from CityOfTinyLites on? I felt really glad that there were at least 3 guys near me freaking out during Dweezil’s solos).

the setlist was perfect (although the real power wasn’t there right from the start), right mixture of all-time-favorites, rare heard old tunes, great guitar solos and really complicated stuff. I was surprised to hear ShipAhoy right after the opener (the solo in ZootAllures - wasn’t it the solo section from Sharleena known as WinosDoNotMarch?), loved the solos in Dupree’s Paradise and to see Dweezil conducting the band like Frank did.

wish I could travel around and visit some more gigs, unfortuneatly I can’t. So can’t wait to get the announced DVD.........(it was also the first time ever I tried to get an autograph from a musician – I got it, thanks Dweezil!)

after the show we spent the night listening to some of Frank’s live recordings (took the chance to buy the Buffalo-album – whoah, great FZ solo’s on it)

Hope to see (and hear!) you again!

As mentioned in the reviews before, the audience was pretty much quiet especially at the beginning of the concert. Last year, there was Napoleon who has turned on the heat with his excellent singing and dancing. This year there was (only) Ray as special guest who did his best and saved the show with his appearance.

The band, with an exception of Scheila and Ray, was pretty much quiet playing down the play list just like a high school band does it. The music was not loud enough, the bass-guitar was too loud compared to the other instruments. The hanging pa speakers on the right had some sort of distortion right from the beginning of the concert. The selected songs were right on!

The concert of last year, which was absolutely fantastic in my point of view, has made it hard for Dweezil to catch up with this year. It was a nice move from him to shake hands and sign the tickets at the end of the concert. I would like to thank him for his effort and work to present Franks music once again.

See you next year …

Dweezil, first of all thx for keeping your promise to come back to Dweezildorf!
First, I was a bit disappointed when I saw the tour dates 2007 for the first time and missed Dweezildorf...
But - perhaps the additional concert was announced a little bit to late...?
I really hope we will see you again next year and you'll give us a new chance to show how much we all love Frank's music!

Regards
Andy

FZ´s music played by finest musicians made this ROCK-show an outstanding event in todays commercial music buissness. the coolest tribute possible to the most misunderstood (by critics and audience) composer of the late 20th century. the gig was very much enjoyable, but i assume, the audience needs some encouragement to stand up and (ta-dah) DANCE. so it was a great relief to dance during the encore (JA! g-spot tornado - the world should dance to it.).

it´s been a great pleasure listening to you girl and guys, let´s celebrate every year . then at least one show of the year guarranties musical finesse, good sense of humor and to have guts!
