Did you attend this show at Grand Rex in Paris?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Many, many thanks for the show yesterday. It was 'extraordinaire' and so moving to hear Frank Zappa's music live. You gave me a wonderful time and it was like a very precious gift. I really hope that you will come again... Many thanks for all and keep going. pascale.

That was an incredible show! Dweezil has become such a talented guitar player (been a fan for a while, but his playing has really reached a new level for these tours! Dweezil, "you're my neeeew goooood"), and he seemed more at ease on stage than last year. The whole band and setlist was very good, and I really appreciated to have a different setlist this year, the version of "g-spot tornado" was really a blast! I really enjoyed the mix of songs, and improvisation spots, something for everyone! :) The videos with Frank were so cool and moving too, my god, this solo from Muffin Man is just amazing! Gave me goose bumps! :)

I really had a VERY good time, the sound was great, the venue was great (a little expensive, but much more intimate and warm than 2006's Zenith). The audience was very warm, everyone all around me was obviously having a great time. ;) It was so cool that Dweezil stayed a bit at the end, to shake hands and sign autographs, couldn't stay, maybe next time!

Oh, and the DVD! What a great suprise to see it (and buy it) at the merchandising stand! There's only one thing on the down side, about merchandising... I love it, I crave for it, I admit it, and I know no one is forcing me to buy anything, but these prices!!! Please, do something about that, no music DVD cost that much in a record store, and the t-shirts look to be of lower quality compared to last year, which is too bad... the design are so cool, but quality seems low, and they really are overly priced... bought some anyway, but may think twice next time. ;)

Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH for this tour, and see you next time, next year (?), every year!!! :)

Fred.

Hello guys!!
Thanks for a fantastic show on Friday night. It was my second time, the first time was last year in Reykjavík, Iceland. We came to Paris to see the show and spend the weekend there, and it was fantastic. My wife who was not very much into Zappa really enjoyed the concert, no wonder, you're such great musicians. It was just absolutely great.
It was also very nice to meet you guys after the show. We had Backstage passes since my friend Sverrir knows you from last year in Reykjavik. Hope to meet you again some time, see you hopefully on a show next year.
Too bad that we didn´t meet Dweezil and Ray backstage. Maybe next time.
Thanks again and keep on playing.

Best regards from Iceland,

Juergen & Bryndís

Last year I was in Milan, Italy & enjoyed a lot with Napi & Vai as guest of ZPZ.

Now with R.White, two improvisations & new synclavier adapted pieces for a rock band it seems to be clear a new direction for a wider view of Frank that used to. Excellent set list with excellent musicians. Zappa music should be played in places like this. Wonderful acoustics & very comfortable for the audience & fans.

I´d like to Joe Traves, for his confirmation of Madrid ´88 video after the show. Hope ZFT release it soon. :!:

Many thanks to DZ for his autographs & sense of conceptual continuity. :!: :!:

I´ve got the new dvd & hope good news for the next tour & year even with FZ´s old chaps musicians we have all in mind.

Thanks to ZPZ for the great show & Tour de Frank.

First of all thanks to all of you. It was a beautiful show, magnificent and delicate at the same time. The interpretations were so accurate that with closed eyes, you could believe you were in one of the Frank Zappa’s concerts some years ago. And Dweezil, you are an amazing guitar player, as good as your father and probably better soon. Even though for me is impossible to appreciate between 5 and 10, I am sure you are much more than 5.
I came from Barcelona and spent the week-end in Paris; not bad because I used to live there in the 80’s and it was fun to meet old friends, but please, please, please, you have to come to Barcelona next year. I am sure you will sold out in 24 hours. Anyway, I will go anywhere to see you again.

María

Hello Dweezil and all the band
Once again you were gorgeous! The show in le Grand Rex in Paris, was a wonderfull gift - like with the Zenith in June 2006. Thank you to have propelled me again where I feel really good and happy. On FZ’s planet - where I lost my musical virginity at 17 (in 1979 !!). So THANK you Dweezil to perpetuate the music of FZ with as much of sensitivity, intelligence and generosity. You’re more than a great guitarist, you’re a great musician. Your talent, and that of all the members of ZPZ, can easily be compared to FZ’s. That means much for all those which the music of FZ touches deeply. Keep one going with what you know! And please, come back in Paris - for more than only one show !
Now, THANK you especially to have invited Mr. Ray White. Eh! Ray, I always have the White rose that you offered to me, and I will keep it until your next arrival in Paris! It was amazing to meet you after the show and to discuss with you so in a friendly way. Thank you with you and Sheila, Aaron, Billy, for the autographs on my pink panties that I can proudly carry on my head now! Well, It’s not easy to express what I have to say to you all, not because of our different languages, but because there are no words to say what I feel. That could be summarized with: GLAP !! (a mixture of Gratitude, Love, Admiration and Pleasure !) Take care. We keep in touch.
:D

Hi Dweezil

Unfortunately, last Friday after the amazing show in le Grand Rex, I was upset so much (because of the musical orgasm) that I stupidly miss the occasion to buy the DVD of the ZPZ Tour. Since, I seek on the official website how to get it to me, but I am afraid well to have miss the only occasion. Can you please tell me when and where I could by it?
Many thanks and....
GLAP again (cf. th efront message)

Sharleena :D :D

I´m one of the fortunate people in this world! As a young boy I was introduced to the music of Frank Zappa and was able to see him perform his music several times. That was a turning point in my life and since then I´ve been a happy man. When I saw the ZPZ gig for the first time in Paris last year I was thrilled by the fact that there are musicians that can actually play his compositions the way he wanted it to be played and still bring some new things to it. The shows I saw last year, Paris – Reykjavík and the unforgettable Halloween show in NYC was something that I really didn´t think was possible to top.

I was proofed wrong when I attended the Paris show this year. What a band !!! Though it´s the same core band as last year it´s so much tighter and I can´t wait to attend to the 2008 shows. I have to admit that I miss Napoleon a lot and hopefully he´ll be back next year. This show is one of the best I´ve ever seen in my life.

Ray you really haven´t forgotten anything and your performance in Paris was outstanding!! Dweezil is becoming one of the best guitarist in the world and this band must continue this fantastic project as well as introducing us fans with some new compositions.

As I said to you guys in Paris we are building a venue in Reykjavík so hopefully you´ll come to Iceland again for a gig but in the meantime all of you are welcome to visit the land of pure energy and I´ll personally do everything to make your stay most enjoyable.

See you later
Sverrir Tynes

Hi DZ and all, it was a great time that i spent with my friends Fan of FZ music and the way you play it. First time i saw your dad was in Paris for Sheik Yerbooty and each time he was there i was too, at this time my sister was too young for it but finally she is now converted and follow me for this very exiting event. One downside for my own taste,i have to say, that this year the concert was great but the acoustic of the theater was less good than in Zenith. Ray was splendid in this love and guillotine exercise and we poor French where not able to be more creative than porno, anyway....
Please come back again and give us some more of these old ones.

It was a great show.
I went with 2 of my kids and had the boy shake the hand of DZ at the end.

The Grand REX is a very nice venue (better than the Zenith).

I do like Napoleon a LOT (and would like to see him again), but one must admit, nobody can sing City Of Tiny Lites and The Illinois Enema Bandit like Ray do.

The band, the guests, the video stuff ... It's very enjoyable.
Only one "regret", my kids are really fond of Peaches In Regalia

We're looking forward to hear and see all of you next year (and who knows, with Mr Duke ?)

Yes, thanks to Dweezil, Scheila, Joe, Aaron, Pete, Billy, Jamie and ray for the very good time.

Sharing this with my kids ==> Priceless
