Did you attend this show at Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Yes, it was a special concert. I remembered, driving to Antwerp the concerts Frank played in Rotterdam, 1988 (with his Bolero on my CD-player. yeah from that concert)
It's good to see younger people in the audience who like his music too. And the band was fantastic, I sat swinging and singing and can't wait untill the next European tour.So it was not just a concert of a band. It was Franks music, played by involved and dedicated musicians. More than an happening!

yesterday's show really was great!
It is a great experience to hear Franks music being played live by such great musicians!! Last year I thought it was a great show, but this show was even greater… I think that is due to the queen Elizabeth hall… it’s cosier….
Hearing Franks music being played with so much care and devotion really causes a very strong emotions, when the band was playing along with the video it even nearly made me cry … Also thank you for staying out to sign everything!

Anyway, I hope you’ll be there next year again!

Ps: Sorry for the mistakes I probably wrote… my English is not very good

I attended Tilburg and this show and i think the band really matured over the weeks. They where much more relaxed and consequently in better command of the material. Especially Scheila -> Great show!!!
ps: The DVD is playing as i write this. It's great!

My third show of this tour and a bit dissapointing.

Very lame audience, due to "no drinking in theater policy" and too comfortable seats. No atmosphere at all.... Even at the end it took some time to get the people out of their seats for some serious cheering and applause.

And why was the band positioned way back on that huge stage??? They could have come at least 4 meters closer to the audience.

Now I paid € 54 for front seats that where to far to the side to see half of the band.

Good show with lots of new songs and good improvs (loved the chicken), but please don't come here again.

Anyway. Thanks to Dweezil for signing my dvd! It will be played a lot. :D

Although the audiance was indeed a little cool at the beginning, it was a concert not to miss. I don't want to put the spotlight one a specific player because all are performing the music of Frank perfect and it was good to hear Ray White.

I think I can speak for all attendants of the show : "Dweezil, do not forget to always put a Belgium show on you list for all future tours!"

A bit sad when someone starts to ask to not come again in Antwerp. As you prohably don't know belgian people are not the kind of audience wich starts directly for 100% ...... first we see and we hear and once we are convinced everything is coming in line. It's a bit sad to condammed us by asking this unreasonable question. As well as some people were hadbanging, we hear every note played, we sing along but maybe not to loud so that we can not disturb our neighbour, but one thing I can tell being for 3 hours in those to confortable seats :
IT WAS FANTASTIQUE and we hope realy that there will be a show next year and why not in the same venue :-)
Thank you very much to all the members of the band for bringing the music in this way.

I never went to one of the shows before but I can tell you that I regret it because the show was absolutely amazing!!
Maybe the crowd was a little bit cool but taht doesn't mean that they didn't enjoy it!! I saw a lot of people with their eyes closec really feeling and loving the music and I think that's beautiful!!

And when Dweezil played together with Frank on the video: that gave me goosebumps!! It was so emotional!!

I really hope that the show comes back next year!! I'm definitely coming!!

Seems like they skipped a song.

Dog Meat was on the setlist as a reprise but not played.

First of all I want you to know I am very happy Dweezil is doing this tour. For a lot of people including me, it is the first time to see Frank's music played by Zappa and that is great. I visit the show in Tilburg and yesterday in Antwerpen. My first show in Tilburg was really amazing so I decided the visit the show again somewhere soon. The problem of visiting a show more then once is that you can compare them... So Dweezil, I did and this is what I want you to know of the show in Antwerpen:

The first half of the show I found it a bit disappointing. The band was making mistakes "Good god, this is inexcusable". Doreen was, I am sorry to say so, played sloppy ! It was getting better the second half, starting from Dupree's Paradise. Loved the chicken act...
I saw Frank only two times on the screen, I liked it very much and I remember seeing him more often in Tilburg.

Maybe playing 8 shows on a row is a bit to much?

Anny way, I will for sure visit your show when you come back to Europe and to the Netherlands again next year, and I hope it will be one of the first and in the 013!

Frank

I was at the amsterdam melkweg show ( yes sheila I'm the old fart staring up to you with the small camera) and I really enjoyed that show. In the melkweg there was a chemistry between band and audience. maybe standing only, smoking and drinking helped :-)
Somehow the Antwerp show lacked it all. Ok the band was tight (besides the PA problems) the band did their routine (very good) with another setlist but it lacked something.
Now lemme guess here why the band did a short! show
1) the band was tired (8 shows in a row)
2) the audience wasn't too responsive
3) the venue is not suitable for rockconcerts
4) the seats were too comfortable
5) Belgium audiences are reserved by nature ( belgiums, dont feel offended, please)

so in short, musically (on a scale of 10) 9.5 (10 is unvailable)
audience, venue and experience 6.0

hope you guys/girl read this
regards
LudzNL

ps keep the chicken act and "Fuck The Swedes"
Im sure the swedes wil take revenge, when asked, please act accordingly

pps of course I will visit the next tour

Hiya folks,
I just wanna a say a few things after seeing the show in Antwerp. I hope I don't offend anyone with certain remarks.
First I have to say that I still miss Frank a lot and seeing him on screen during the show always cracks me up...to me there hasn't been anyone or anything to fill the gap since he's been gone. For me it was a fantastic birthday present hearing his music and seeing Dweezil and the band. I've always had a heartfelt feeling for "the Dweez". I sam him with "Z" (mike, scott, brother ahmet and was it joey? )in Antwerp some 10 years back. They blew me away. I've been following his musical output and Mike Keneally's too ever since. Wouldn't it be wonderful, Dweezil if you could take Mike on tour with you just once. I relished in seeing Steve Vai, Napoleon and Bozzio last year...but Mike seems the kind of guy who could also do wonderful things with you on stage.
Well, now for the delicate part. Dweezil, I love Frank's music, I love what you're doing with it bringing it out to the people. But I couldn't help thinking as I sat there in total bliss during your pygmy twylyte solo : would Frank really want this just the way it is?
When I first heard songs like "Leviathan" or "With you" or "Evil" I thought, that's it, Dweezil's growing into something really powerful. I'd really like to hear some more of your own stuff (I have "Go with what you know" as well, but that's not quite the same thing). I love sitting there enjoying Frank's music (and seriously folks, maybe we don't dance up and down in raw unbridled baffoonery in Belgium, but I was really listening intensly) but seeing Frank up there really "larger than life" fills me with a sort of melancholy. Frank was never shy about speaking his mind, so there you have it, I said what I had to say. Hope I didn't sound offensive.
As for the show, what can I say but "the greatest music on earth" played with such discipline and passion! Wonderful.

regards,
Frank
