Did you attend this show at Sentrum Scene in Oslo?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Wow! Wow !!! WOW!!!

My favourite over all of my favourite Zappa CDs is "You are what you is". If my apartment was on fire, I would make sure I'll rescue that one. Thanks for playing two pieces from it. That made my ... YEAR!
( I had to leave after the second extra... maybe it was more from "You are..."?).

Liked the new ones. I enjoy the lyrics, the solos, Dweezil’s guitar and of course – Mr. Ray White. I really hope this tour has been recorded. All of you seemed to have so much fun! The Brittney-comments - hilarious - the Zappa-spirit is for sure alive and kicking.

Thanks for a great concert! Counting the days until next time.

Bad pickup-line experienced during the concert:

I was standing in the front, and suddenly a man standing behind me says:
"Do you know who that is?!" *pointing at Dweezil and looking like his going to reveal a big secret

"That's Frank Zappas son!!!" he continues.

(Thanks for enlighten me...*lol*)

Next time they should just do a tour of Norway; they clearly love it here. I don't know how long Dweezil (& co) remained onstage after the concert to shake hands (a nice, firm hand-shake it was), write autographs and simply communicate with people on their way out. The audience was just out of this world. Highlights for me were Brown Shoes Don't Make It, Pygmy Twylyte, Doreen, Dupree's Paradise, Dog/Meat, G-Spot Tornado, the Freak Out-medley (I Ain't Got No Heart, How Could I Be Such a Fool, I'm Not Satisfied) and the happy sing-along on Florentine Pogen. And Dumb All Over rocked the house.

Mr. Dweezil "we have received a special request to play the entire set once more" Zappa, I already look forward to seeing you next year.

Thank you for a very good show last night! I'm not much of a critic, so it's difficult to say anything about it, other than Welcome back! Dog/Meat was wonderful. Scheila G. playing two saxophones at the same time was one highlight. (Is it spelled 'hylyte' in Zappanese?)

The DVD. I'm watching it now. Nice.

GREAT show. Using old footage with the man himself...brillant...got a little misty there for a while. Band seemed more relaxed this year..Dupree's was fun..hearing the bandmermbers improv. Mr.White sounds the same..if not even better. Allready lookin forward to next year I'll be there again and again and again...and.. :D

Thank you for the best show I've ever seen/heard in my life. Great musicians, loved the "Dupree's Paradise"-soloes with Dweezil conducting the band in the FZ way. To me when he turns around and conducts with his back to the audience he looks very much like FZ himself. Sheila Gonzalez is a hell of a musician/singer. Playing keyboard while playing sax, playing two saxes at the same time. FZ surely would love your playing! I loved the encore set: Dog Breath/Uncle meat, G-spot Tornado and Muffin Man feat. FZ-soloes on video. The audience made sure that they played one more which became Floretine Pogen. Great! Ray White delivered great vocals. Yes, he is rythm! I'll be back next year.

This concert moved me and is probably one of the best concerts I've been to in my life. I've always wanted to see Zappa play, and this is the closest I'll ever get, thank you so much! See you next year!

I forgot to mention Ray White's improvised and amazingly romantic lovesong Once I Start Slapping You, I Will Never Stop. It was so tender, my sensitivity skyrocketed, and it's still dangerously high. I've been walking around all day with yellow autumn leaves up to the ankles, with tiny sick shit rollin' down my face, dreaming of slapping you firmly, until my arms can't do it no more.

"Once I Start Slapping You, I Will Never Stop" was a hit! Please - hit me one more time, Mr. White.

Got inspired after last night. Bought more FZ-albums today. "Ship Arriving..." (Most brilliant cover ever, by my opinion), "Absolutely Free", "Apostrophe", "Joe's Garage Act I-III", "Man From Utopia", "Orchestral Favorites" and "Thingfish". I've had them all before, but my American x-husband sold them, before I could get them back here to Norway after the divorce. Hope he got some good money from it.
Otherwise - a plain insult.
*lol*

Can anyone write down all the tittles from last night, please?

I was at the Oslo concert - this year and last year. Both of these performances are without doubt the best ones I have ever been to.
And I have been to quite a lot of different concerts (not so many lately I must admit).
My Zappa background: Bought my first Zappa record around '76/'77 - and was hooked on his music. Ï have between 70 and 80 Zappa albums in my collection. All of them are transferred to my iPod, and I listen to one or two Zappa albums every single day while walking my german shepheard. I concider myself pretty familiar with most of - if not all o -f Frank Zappas available recordings and compositions.
Back to the concert; As mentioned, this years ZPZ was excellent performed by Dweezil and his band members - all of them extremely talented, "hand picked" musicians.
What made this years performance maybe a tiny bit better than last years ZPZ was that to me, Dweezil looked more self confident and relaxed than he did on last years tour. Still, he was the "humble" son of Frank Zappa. It also looked as if Dweezil and the rest of the band members really loved playing in Oslo (and felt they were "home" on the stage in Oslo). They also got the feedback from the audience they very well deserved. What really made my day/night was that Dweezil stayed on stage for at least 30 minutes after the show was over (for how long did he play - was it 3 hours?) to sign autographs, shake hands with the audience and to talk to them. I got my DVD from last years ZPZ and my ticket signed - I also got a chance to say thank you to Dweezil, for a fantastic performance and shake hands with him. He really seemed to be a very nice, down to earth guy (not the spoiled son of a celebrity which he could have turned out to be).It looked as if he felt and was touched by the warm responce and feedback he got from the audience. I give this concert 10 out of 10 possible points.
One thing I know for sure after Friday nights performance is that allthough I have been a Zappa fan for more than 30 years, the interest for Frank Zappas compositions and performances is still growing.
Zappa is the one thing I and adicted to.
To finish this posting, I would like to say thank you to Dweezil and the band members for a fantastic well played performance! If you keep your promisse and come back next year, I will defenitely come to your show - even if it is on Christmas evening or in the middle of my vacation. It is simply a matter of priority. Zappa will allways come before anything else. The only thing that could stop me would be my own funeral.
Thank you Dweezil!!!

Best regards,
Jørg1

Good Day
On my way down to the venue, I twisted my knee, but when the show started of with City of tiny Lights, the pain was gone.
Alltough your show did not have a permanently healing effect on my knee, it was an outstanding performance in all aspects.

I've attended a lot of concerts in my time, and not many have grabbed my attention from start to finnish like you did the other night.
...and I was not the only one...

Very often there is a percentage of the attendance that is more occuipied with beer drinking, than the music/performance, and talks a lot during the shows.
The Friday night crowd was diffrent, just about everyone was there for the music. There was a connection between the band and the audience that is very very rear.

....and very seldom have I experienced anything like that...

The Recipe is as follows:

Wonderfull music
Excellent musicians, well rehearsed and confident with the material, able to give that extra to the performance.
Good sence of Humour
Good crowd

To all of you thanks a lot. I will never forgett it.

...and Dweezil keep up the good work. I dont know what its like to have such a talented dad to look upto, but Im confident that he would have been proud of you, and the way you handle the legacy.

Yours sincerely,

Horendo

In an interview you, Dweezil, said that you have noticed that the norwegian audience is very fond of and have a great knowledge in the FZ music. Well, did you know this: On our national tv NRK there's a quiz program called "Kvitt eller dobbelt" where children can participate in a topic they choose and win 48.000 Nkr. Many chooses topics like "Harry Potter", "Lord of the rings" and other obvious things. But would you believe that a blonde 16 year old girl has chosen FRANK ZAPPA as her topic? Would this happen in an other country than Norway?

By the way, I bought the ZPZ-DVD. It's fucking awesome! :D

Thank you for doing this, Dweezil! :D
