Did you attend this show at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

An outstanding performance by ZPZ at the Ameristar Casino! About three hours of music, and the band really seemed to be feeding off of the crowd energy. Highlights for me were Zoot Allures and the Dupree's Paradise segment. It seems that Scheila Gonzalez noticed a member of the audience filming with a camcorder, and Dweezil requested that the filmer be so brave as to turn in his tape, the audience member promptly handed the SD card over to Dweezil. Props to DZ for being civil about the bust, and props to the filmer for stepping up.

Another highlight was Scheila almost losing her shirt whilst playing multiple instruments! I got quite the view from my seat, a very attractive and talented lady for sure.

Once again we were completely bowled over by the tightness and skill of ALL of the band members! It was a great honor seeing Mr. Ray White in person, I loved the red shoes he was wearing!

The phrase for tonights performance was "The nuns seemed fresh as daisys", which DZ added to before fucking with Ray with the addition of "Too bad I'm rotten to the core". DZ also requested the improvisation be sung as "a gay power ballad from the eighties", and mention a "bad habit".

One audience member supplied DZ with a Missouri "HOTRATS" license plate. Completely fucking cool! Hot Rats rules IMHO.

Kansas City was a 6 hour drive for us from Southern Indiana, and we enjoyed it every bit as much as last year when we caught the Louisville KY show at the awesome Palace Theater with NMB, TB, and SV. I hope that ZPZ will play the Louisville Palace sometime again in the future.

I went alone to this show. I hope you folks come back next year. I'll be sure to bring some people with me next time. I am a newbie fan. I only own three Frank Zappa albums and I initially bought them to listen to all this crazy drumming that people told me was on them. The crowd participation was very fun, people should do more of that. And me not knowing most of the songs also had its perks. While I sat and listened to this music I had and epiphany. That I personally, should be a little more selective with the musicians I play with and, that you can't spell enlightenment without lighten. Also, after the line about the "fresh nun's" was chosen I thought of an even better line. I'll be more aggressive in getting heard next time.

I wonder what Dweezil's next step would have been had not the bootlegger handed over what they'd recorded. Dweezil seems to be a healthy young man with a good mental outlook.

I go to a lot of shows and I really really really enjoyed this one very much.

Thank you and please come back to Kansas City.

As a someone who never got to see Frank live, The concert was an absolutely amazing experience. This was my first ZPZ show and I was very impressed at the quality of the show, and will be sure to return next year (maybe the band could come to Columbia too?). I'm also curious if the bootleg tape mentioned in the previous reviews has any potential, as Dweezil was saying last night.

Thank you Dweezil Zappa.

I attended the ZPZ concert at the Star Pavilion in Kansas City and it was absolutely incredible!
I was fortunate to attend two Frank Zappa concerts in the 1970's, and to hear his music again, being played live by ZPZ, was breathtaking. I am not a music critic by any means, but in my opinion this concert was professionally conducted and the sound was amazing. The songs that included the video of Frank playing in accord with the ZPZ band were especially captivating, although somewhat melancholy( in a pleasing way since Frank will always be missed ).

Again, thank you Dweezil and please come back to K.C. soon.

oops, how could I almost forget to mention what an honor it was to see and hear "the world famous Ray White"- I will long remember those terrific vocals.

A very satisfying 3 hour extravaganza indeed! My 3rd ZPZ show – 1st one this year. I had to drive in from St. Louis since they aren’t playing there this year. Not a problem – it was a pleasant reminder of the road trips that I took in the 80s to see the 17 FZ shows that I was fortunate enough to attend. :D

Note for souvenir hunters: there were tons of shirts for sale this year in the lobby (and an FZ beach towel!). I opted for Wazoo, Buffalo and the ZPZ DVD instead.

Really enjoyed the solos during Dupree’s Paradise. Especially the ones by Jamie, Aaron, Billy and Joe. Not to take anything away from Sheila, Pete or Ray -- the ones by the other guys just happened to resonate with me more on this particular occasion! Really dig the wah-wah Rhodes playing by Aaron. Also, I was seriously afraid the drum riser was gonna collapse during Joe’s solo from the ferocity of his playing! Thankfully, it didn’t.

Kudos to everyone for really nailing the background vocals on songs like Joe’s Garage and Doreen as well!

The inclusion of Classical pieces like G-Spot and Dog/Meat were really an extra treat for sure.

Loved seeing and hearing the FZ videos though it was a tad bittersweet (as the previous poster, FZ120272, had mentioned). FZ doing Dumb All Over really brought home the fact that I (we) really miss Frank.

Have a great time in the land of OZ you guys!!!

The concert looked like a reunion for Lexus owners. >50 years old.
My last concert with the Zappa's was 1974 in E. Lansing. These seats were 100X better in the casino as we could actually see the players! The sound was super, I even turned off my hearing aids. It truly was a great event and the music, sound, the tightness of the group and the videos were spot on. If only we could have stayed around for 2 more hours.
Keep up the good work D, pop is smiling, isn't he?

My wife and I saw the show at the Ameristar.

WOW!

I had seen Frank perform live several times (I believe 5) and it was always amazing. This show was every bit comparable to the original. Dweezil’s performance that night was superb. He is an amazing talent. He has also managed to surround himself with a very talented group of musicians.

When my wife told me about the show I balked about going because I was not sure that the interpretation of the difficult music would live up. I finally decided oh well might as well see what it’s about. Man was I glad I did.

Sound was excellent and the performances were wonderful. The music was definitely the star of the show but the only way that was possible was because of the technical quality of musical performances. Simply unbelievable.

It was one great concert.

this was my 4th ZPZ show and the drive from tulsa was worth every blue cent.

front row center couldn't have been any better !

my eyes were on Scheila most the night, I mean where else other than Dweez should they have been ?

Joe was nice enough to give me one of his 2 drum sticks,Dweez was kind enough to sign my dvd and once again Scheila was such a beautiful, kind woman to me after the show handing me the setlist and at the pub i was fortunate to see her again where i was in awe from her wonderful smile and personality :)

such nice folks they all were :)

i was really hoping for "yo mama" as i heard it during the sound check, but "ship ahoy" made me more than happy and then some :)

i can't wait for next years tour as will drive again to wherever i need to drive and support Dweez and keeping Dad's music alive and fucking rocking !

thanks so much Dweez

see you soon and i really hope you were serious that the "all roads lead to inca" shirt i gave you in Tulsa did actually fit you as you told me it did in KC !

see you all soon and ill make damn sure to bring flowers for Scheila this time and cookies for the band

sincere thanks from Tulsa

laney'

peace, love and good happiness to you all :)

Does anyone know what happened to the film that that guy had on his SD card? I remember Dweezil telling the guy that if he handed it over then it could be posted to the site with better audio for everybody to enjoy. Was it ever posted anywhere?
