ZPZ Fans,
First off, I had front row tickets, which made this concert somewhat surreal. I am literally 6 feet from Ray White, 10 feet from DZ and Sheila. It was something I have never experienced at any concert before, and probably will never again. Awesome...just awesome.
From this distance, DZ and the band seemed more like "family" while I sat and watched. It's very hard to explain the difference between being 40 rows back and being practically on stage. The crowd (left and right of me) was very civilized, which added to the experience.
From where I sat, the sound was great. It was so cool to hear Dweezils guitar licks as they emanated directly from his Gibson SG (Franks?) and Fender USA Stratocaster via FUCHS, Fender GDEC and SuperSonic amps. I am a "gear head", so it was great to see how he used his effects pedals throughout the show.
After the show, DZ and Sheila hung around to sign autographs and chat with the adoring fans. Again, surreal was the experience of just standing there, so casually, while all of this went on around me. They are very gracious and unassuming people. They could have just as easily been neighbors on my street. So cool.
Ray White unfortunately disappeared from the stage soon after the concert ended. I wanted him to autograph an empty enema box (Fleet brand) that I brought from home. After all the fans thinned out, Dweezil looked at me and said "I'll take the box backstage, and find Ray". WHAT A GUY! So I handed him the box, thanking him as he walked offstage. A few moments later, his assistant (the towel lady...sorry I don't remember your name

) returned with the autographed enema box. HOW COOL IS THAT!... I have a enema box signed by the "Illinois Enema Bandit" himself! I also was brought and empty muffin box (Jiffy brand mix), that DZ and Sheila both autographed. These treasures will be preserved in a frame, and hung on the wall in my office for all to enjoy (or wonder about).
Finally, I was one of the few to get a "set list" from the floor of the stage. I asked Ray White if I could have it, and said "yeah man". As I reached over the stage, he helped me peel the duct tape from the floor, being careful not to tear the paper. Again, so cool. I will post the set list later, as DZ did an instrumental at the beginning of the show which was not on the set list. As soon as I get the name of the tune (yes, I am ashamed of myself), I will post the entire set list.
The ZPZ '06 DVD was available at this show, so I would assume it will be available at all future shows. There is a great selection of t-shirts and hoodies available too, so bring lots of cash!
DZ, thanks for another year and another incredible show. Count on me to be there every year!
Peace!
