Did you attend this show at Hamer Hall in Melbourne?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

The concert hasn't happened yet. The guys should be on stage in under 3 hours. I cant wait to get there. If it's half as good as the ZPZ dvd i'll be very happy!

Let us be the first to say ...... unbelievable. What a great concert and how fantastic to see the man himself on the big screen. Our two teenage kids are huge Zappa fans and they were not disappointed. And how lovely of Dweezil to stay and sign autographs afterwards. Jack will never wash his signed tshirt and Lucy will never wash her hands again. Steve Vai is a god and Ray White a legend - in fact the band were exceptional - Sheila is one hell of a musician!
Like the poodle - it bites!
Thanks
EAF!

What a gentelman you are, Dweezil, staying behind on stage to talk with the audience and sign tickets, programs, dvds, tshirts (etc)

My 12 year old son had a ball at the concert; rubbing the eyes a bit two hours in (after a long day at school) but carrying on like a real rocker in the encores. Then afterwards he shook hands with the Mr. R. White and yourself. (You signed your name inside the moustache in the program.)

Isn't it amazing that way back in the 70s and 80s Frank Zappa's music was critisised by parent groups and other politically correct morons. Last night we had children posing for photos and getting autographs signed by another Zappa. Beautiful scenes last night, people being just enjoying each other's company. That was more than just a rock concert last night!

My mum and Dad took me and my three sisters to your concert last night, it was exellent! It was the first live concert we had been to, it will be hard to see anything better. My dad is a huge fan of Frank Zappa, and my youngest sister got the set list given to her and Dweezil signed it. He was kind enough to let us have our photo with him. We have our own band called Rock Child and we currently play a bit of zeppelin, hendrix and other good stuff. We look forward to starting on some zappa covers which we know will be hard work, but as Frank says music is the best. What a night to remember! Long live Zappa!

Wow!

Dweezil, you have done an incredible job of bringing Frank's music back to the masses. The band are great and your guitar playing is just sensational.
The look of serenity on your face as you play those incredibly hard licks was moving to say the least. (Frank would be so proud of you)
Scheila has a smile that lights up the room (not to mention her amazing sax solos) and Ray White was brilliant.

One favourite moment of mine was when you played "Zoot Allures", your guitar tone was spot on!

Thankyou so much for bringing this show to Melbourne, it meant alot to all us Zappa fans down under.

And thankyou for being kind and humble enough to stay after the show signing autographs and chatting with the fans. Im so happy I got to shake your hand and have my copy of "Shampoo Horn" autographed..ha...you even signed my wife's arm! LOL...

I could go on for ages but suffice to say, you are a very special person and thanks again. :D

(eaf!...i have no idea what it means either...but it sounds good!)

What is it about this man and his music that inspires such enthusiasm?
You could feel the love in Hamer Hall last night and not just from old farts like me. As Dweezil said "It's great to see so many young people here".

My brain and body are still recovering from the aural assault that was "Zappa Plays Zappa". I was always a fan, rather than a fanatic, my FZ collection of recordings limited to a disc or two, so most of the music last night was unfamiliar to me. It was, however, undeniably Frank and we could not be helped but be dazzled by it's complexity, the brilliant musicianship and the humour...pure Frank, a true original. I miss him.

Thanks Zweezil and your sensational band for an unforgettable show. :D

Wow, I am lost for words.

All the musicians were brilliant and awe inspiring. I was three rows from the front and watching DZ play was amazing, it was as though he was channelling his father. On top of that, it was the humbleness in the style of play, the honesty and respect.

When DZ first spoke and thanked the younger generation for being there and then his eyes welled with tears of sheer happiness, it was then when you really saw what this concert was all about.

Toward the end, it was nice to see DZ jamm with his dad Frank Zappa on the screen.

It was a ver sincere and moving night.

Dwizeel Zappa, Well Done and thank you.

Ms. M

Just awesome, I had a front row seat and came along with my son who purchased the ticket for me, one of the best concerts I have ever been to and the venue was fantastic. :) :) :)

I never thought I'd ever get hear Frank's music played live. Last night, thirty years after stumbling across One Size Fits All totally by accident, the dream came true. It was so worth the wait!!!

The venue, the songs, the band, the rapport Dweezil established with the crowd - and our response to him - what a show!!!

I took my 12-year-old son, who'd been looking forward to this for a month then got crook as a dog the night before and spent most of the day in bed. He got through the three hours without throwing up and now has a new idol in Steve Vai! He loved it! And obviously Dweezil got a huge buzz seeing so many youngsters in the audience.

The highlights? The stunt guitar in City Of Tiny Lites; Ray White's improv Tomorrow I'm Getting Married On The Back Of A Pick-Up Truck (or somesuch) and his gorgeous little solo with Steve and Dweeze; the audience enthusiastically and unabashedly singing the bassline accompaniment to Sheila's solo; Uncle Remus; Zool Allures (because Frank played it when he was here!); singing along to I'm The Slime; watching Dweezil's left hand during G-Spot Tornado; father and son in Dumb All Over, Cosmik Debris and Muffin Man; getting to hear Andy from the first Zappa album I ever owned (and still my favourite).

I only wish I could have thanked Dweezil personally at the end of the show, but I had to get my sick boy home. Hopefully, tho, you'll read this and see how much we appreciate what you're doing to keep your father's incredible legacy alive.

Run Home Slow and come back fast! Thank you so much!

There was this sweat spot during the show, it went for about 8 minutes.

I had my eyes closed and I'm thinking this is the best piece of music I have ever heard in my life.

I have photos but the forums spam safeguards won't let me post photobucket links.

If you want to see them and can point to another furim where I can post them, lemme know.

Im 35yo and met my hubby (who has plays rocking guitar in bands) 18 years ago and he introduced me to not only the joy or music but also the zappa way! He is such a massive fan of Frank and then he bought me Shampoo Horn and I drove up the east coast of Australia listening to it and still love it to this day!! it does not have an expirey date and I never get sick of it, it means so much to me. Others may not get it but we do....love you for that!!!
Dude you took so much time and love to meet people at the end of your your gig it will always be unforgetable to me coz you signed my arm and I still hanvnt washed it off!! Not only is that so cool but Ive seen and meet many bands but never felt the serenity and peacefulness of watching such talented and passionate guy on stage. Love live Zappa's....You freakin rock xxxx Relle
