Dweezil and all bandmembers: Thank you for a fantastic performance and a very memorable night! I saw you guys in Oslo, Norway,May 2006 where you also played a thrilling performance, but with a totally different setlist. Last nights setlis was packed with goodies. Seldom does 2h45m go so quickly. I think a measure of the nights performance was the standing oviation following almost every song. That, I haven't seen before. Keep up fantastic work! I'd love to see you again!

SYMPHONY OF MADNESS. That was insane, I remember driving the long dusty roads of Western Queensland in the late 70s listening to Sheik Yerbooty where just owning such dangerous music could land you in jail or at least get you into a blue and thinking how do they do that shit, now I know. Many thanks Dweezil and crew for comming to Adelaide but then again how could they not when Dweezils Mum has the same name long live Mrs Zappa. Thank you from this city of tiny lights.

ZPZ was a great show of three hours of sustained brilliance - the brilliance of FZ's compositions and the brilliance of the musicians. Dweezil's playing was incredible - and he made it look easy, standing there quietly apparently (from where I was sitting near the back) not even raising a sweat.

It was wonderful to hear Ray White in the flesh recreating many of FZ's best songs.

Clearly Dweezil has inherited his Dad's work ethic, as evidenced in his own intensive study of FZ's works and in generously giving us a three hour show of Frank's many great pieces.

Thanks a lot Dweezil, the band and crew for working so hard to bring this to us.

What an incredible night! I hope ZPZ felt the appreciation, everyone I saw in the audience absolutely loved it. I wish I could see it over and over again. (I don't think I've ever watched anything for three hours and wanted more before, I could listen and watch that band for eternity) The attention to detail was astounding. Even the tone of Dweezils guitar matched the eras perfectly. The sound on the Frank parts was perfect, it was all just perfect. Thank you so much for putting on a performance of such high standard. A truly sublime performance. I never dreamed I would ever experience such a night. Dweezil is simply a genius.

Loved the show. Dweezil is a truly gifted guitarist like his dad. All the musos were fantastic and showed a great deal of Frank's humour and theatrics. someone should tell the sound mixer that if you turn all the mic's up too loud you lose too much of the tone and just end up with a harsh blast that eliminates the detaile of the musos. This happened too often and demonstrated a poor mixing technique. The players deserved a better treatment of their sound. Often it was impossible to hear what was being played. Ray White and Vai were awesome but the poor mix swamped too much of their clarity. a shame but still a great show of FZ's tunes and a showcase for a very talented bunch of musos.

Can't agree with Dave regarding the sound, after the first few numbers ( which were a little muddy ) I thought it was generally excellent for Thebarton and far better then any recent shows I have seen there, which have generally been in the 'wall of noise ' category.I was down front on the left near the front stack and its wasn't overloud or over-cranked to my ears .
This was a stellar show , I was moved more then I have been in the past few years by any other rock show, the quality of the playing was superb ! Frank would have been more than satisfied by these musos I am sure . Great to see the video as well, for a moment or two it felt to me that Frank was there in the flesh, although it might have been my substance fueled imagination !
Its a shame if the 'point percy at the porcelain " rap was not preserved for future release, anyone know if Dweezil records his shows as a matter of course ?
Anyway , I never thought I would hear this music live again ( last saw Frank at the Bath Festival in 1970 ), lets hope they return to oz sometime soon and knock our collective socks off again !

It was a great show - I've not seen a band play for nearly 3 hrs without a break. Adelaide audiences seem truely appreciative of shows from bands who have never been here before despite a strong following (eg Steely Dan recently).

However, from where I was sitting the sound was not great. There was not much clarity and the details of the performances were often lost. Bottom end was absent and the snare seemed to disappear at times - I was in line with one of the speaker columns. It's a shame cos it made it hard to hear what was going on at times.

But a great performance. Thanks!

Being the w@nker that suggested "Point Percy at the porcelain" I'd be very interested in getting a hold of a bootleg so if anyone knows where I can get one please email me.

What a fantastic show! The best music I have heard in years. I saw Frank play in Perth in 1976 at the WACA (Jawaka) with Terry Bozzio & Napolean and this concert was every bit as good. Ray White and Steve Vai added authenticity.
Frank was always able to attract great musicians and Dweezil has done likewise with this band. The complex nature of the music calls for excellent musicianship.

I was fortunate enough to happen to meet Aaron Arntz (a chance meeting on a tram to Glenelg) on the day of the Adelaide concert which resulted in a front row seat and backstage pass after the show (Thanks Aaron…it made the trip from Perth all the more worth it!)You do George Duke proud mate.
One thing I have always loved about Zappa’s music apart from the humour, guitar playing and musicianship is the inclusion of brass into his songs and Sheila was exceptional with great vocals to match.

The highlights for me were My Guitar wants to Kill your Mama, City of Tiny Lights, Carolina Hard Core Ecstasy, Pygmy Twylyte, Willie the Pimp (Rays vocals unreal),San Ber’dino, Illinois Enema Bandit, Cheepnis,I am the Slime and Cosmik Debris.

The effort that has gone into the production of this show has made a lot of Zappaphiles very happy punters and hopefully gained some new fans. Keep up the good work Dweezil –you are an exceptional guitar player in your own right.

LONG LIVE ZAPPA MUSIC.

BRAVO

Peter C

P.S. Please visit Perth if you tour Oz again!?
