Did you attend this show at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

What a fantastic night out. I had such a good night. It wasn't to loud it was just right. It was so good hearing those songs through a PA. It was so fucking good hearing that stuff with so many other people. Highlights well for me I needed to hear Whats new in Baltimore I don't know what it is with that song but it makes me cry and last night I broke down and bawled my eyes out. Music, is so the best. For me I felt for the first time in my life that I was represented in my local culture, at last I had something to look forward to seeing that ment something to me. Dog meat was so cool, and to top things off they were selling beer out the back. I went with an old mate last night, we used to listen to all those records when we were growing up and they colored our life gave it an edge that other people didn't seem to have, pondering the significance. I'm going to night with a new freind who has only heard a ten song playlist and after last night I don't know what I was worring about, if you like the guitar you WILL like this show. Thankyou thankyou thankyou and thankyou Dweezil.
Oh, my son liked the smiley drawing. :)

Awsom night, just Awsom.
I was incredibly lucky to have the best seat in the house, very front row, dead centre.
Dweezil blew me away. A Master Guitar Player that would do his Dad Proud.
Steve Vai, yeah he rocks, but personaly i'm not into that guitar slinger hero showoff bullshit. But you do have to give the guy credit. He gets to any note on the guitar quicker than the speed of light!
The band were magnificent
They all played a very tidy solo
Jamie Kime can hold his head high
It was a pleasure to shake Ray White's hand at the end.
Wish i was going tonight!!! :D :D

The way I see it Dweezil, that was a really dynamite show. So many highlights - Bandit, Tiny Lites, Muffin Man, the whole set list actually. Only one downlight, you finished playing. Surely young, fit guys like yourselves could have kept going for maybe just another couple of hours? I realise today marks 14 years since your dad left us, and in those intervening years we've always hoped to hear his music live again. You and your band's majestic renditions have surpassed our wildest dreams, thank you so much. Please come back and see us again down here, I know all of us want to come back and see you again. FZ forever.....

Nothing much to say after those wonderful comments, other than the fact that I saw FZ in OZ in '76............and you know what? I loved this almost as much.

The attitude, sound, and musicianship were all brilliant and more than a homage to Frank - they were Frank personified!

A superb evening of superbly played music.

Thanks

A wonderful, masterful event - like no other I had experienced and it had the exact impression upon my kids that I was hoping for / now all the events they witness in their time will be benched marked against this show. Grateful for Ray & Dweezil hanging back and signing autographs although disappointed that Steve Vai didn't show afterwards. Thank you for coming to OZ! Look forward to seeing the show again some time.

I LOVE you Dweezil!!! Thanks for coming out - I am suffering from serious Zappa plays Zappa withdrawal - please come back again soon!!!!!! An awesome experience for a young musician/Frank extremist!! I think Frank's last visit to Australia was 14 years before I was born?...thanks for coming out - I think he'd be very proud!! Nice to hear such great musicians playing his work and with such a genuine attitude that is so often absent in modern bands!xo

It was great to see ZPZ in Sydney. We offloaded the babies with the grandparents and hightailed it to the Enmore from Canberra. A nice pub dinner with a few schooners beforehand, in a local Newtown establishment. It was the longest I've ever held it, no intermission! Eventually I legged it to the Kazzi during In The Slime. Did pretty well.

The show was amazing. We loved it. My partner, she mainly is into the Police but came along, knowing the music pretty well. Since the gig I have heard her singing Yo Mama & Magic Fingers. Her highlight was San Berdino. Ray White [not the realtor] is bloody brilliant. I dug Dog Meat, Echidna Arf & G-Spot Tornado. I particularly loved the guy with the long hair head banging during Echidna Arf, a fellow Roxy fan.

All round we found it a great night out. A pleasant Christmas to all. Cheers to Dweezil & the Band.

What can I say without repeating what everyone else on this page has said. I would say it all only 100 times over. Brilliant, the best show I've ever seen and history in the making. Come back soon guys, you've all done Frank proud.

First of all, I think this concert of well in excess of 3 hours was presented by the hardest working band I've ever seen. I left in the middle of Yo Mama thinking it was the last song, & feeling more than satisfied, but according to the setlist I read on this Forum, there were two more songs in the Encore.

I was right up the back. Should have bought a better seat, but my mate who is not such a Zappa fan would not have wanted to spend that much.

The music got better & better. Some of the earlier songs (Magic Finger
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy Doreen Illinois Enema Bandit) are not my favourites. Later fortunately there were some favourites (Dog/Meat Dupree’s Paradise Heavy Duty Judy I’m the Slime Filthy Habits Dumb All Over). Cosmik Debris is also a great song. The incorporation of video of FZ singing with Z.P.Z. playing was very effective and enjoyable. I'd love to know how they did it. It must be hard to start at the same time as the video, or do they join in withthe video & then take over?

For me, there was not enough emphasis on the jazzier side of Zappa's music. Zappa's music for me seems to be much underated in its jazz component. The best Zappa recorded bands were the the ones with the jazz musicians (eg 1973-4; 1988). For me horns like in the 1988 band brought out the best in FZ's glorious instrumentals. In this concert everyone did a great job but the balance of musicians and therfore sound was too heavily weighted toward electric guitars and keyboards. Yes I know FZ had bands like this in the early late 70's & 80's but these were not his best bands.
