Well, There I was in Kansas. I had driven some fifteen hours from southern Mississippi and Zappa Plays Zappa was the only thing on my mind. In fact, the thought of seeing them was all that had kept me going through three days of torrential rain, hot sun, gusting wind, and the ever present scent of patchouli. The day of the show (Sunday) finally arrived and my spirits were high. Then, as so often happens, the sky darkened and a storm rolled in. Next thing I knew, ZPZ was canceled and I wept tears larger than the hail stones that were falling. Strangely enough, shows taking place in a tent were allowed to continue. "WHY!?" I yelled, "Why would some no name band get to play when Zappa Plays Zappa is HERE!" Anyhow... I left with large helping of bitter disappointment, but there is a happy ending in store. Much to my surprise, the band is in New Orleans today (the eleventh) and I'm going! I have very high hopes for this show, and should anyone in the band read this, I WOULD REALLY ENJOY SOME BACKSTAGE PASSES! MY NAME IS ZACH ROBINETTE, JUST CALL ME UP ON STAGE!
