Fabulous show, my first live ZPZ experience as well. I hadn't seen any set lists since the tour returned from Europe and was thrilled to hear the band break into "San Ber'dino" and "I'm the Slime", not to mention "Inca Roads" and "Peaches".
I don't have all of the albums the material came from so some of it was unfamiliar, but FZ's music and an EXTREMELY tight band was a combination that completely transcended that. Case in point: my wife came along "just because," with basically zero knowledge of the music and a tendency to give me strange looks whenever I throw on some FZ and the lyrics veer off the beaten path. But Monday night she was blown away by the musicianship, how perfectly the band interacted, and the complexity of the music. This morning, I climbed out of the shower to hear music blasting.... mmm, "Peaches"! How about that? A convert!
(I should note that DZ mentioning one of her favorite restaurants may have helped. We recommend Nama on Gay Street as well, if you like sushi.)
We'll be watching the schedule to see when y'all come back within driving range of Knoxville. Sooner would be better than later!
PS: We couldn't stick around after the show, but as a big fan of surround music I wanted to get in a plea for the release of the "Roxy and Elsewhere" quad mix, and for drumming vaultmeister Joe to not give up the search for the missing quad masters of "One Size Fits All" -- the idea of hearing my favorite FZ album in true quad is just something that doesn't go away easily....
