Did you attend this ZPZ show at Hampton Beach Casino?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

You guys are great! Almost 3 hours of music, what a feat! Thanks for coming back to NH. I loved the trifector and Outside Now and I'm The Slime and everything else you did. What a treat to see Ray White! You guys really nail Frank's music. Dweezil, your father would be proud.

All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Saw Frank back in the early 80's and didn't think anything could match his show. Dweezil, you've matched and then some! We brought our 16 year old last night and after seeing you play he's convinced you are the best guitarist out there. I'm sure your Dad is beaming from how proud you've made him. Great job by all! Thank you for the experience.

I just had to drop a line and say what a great show and WOW! Thank you for a great night! Can't wait until you come back around to NH next year!!!!

Let me start by saying that first, I am a 48 year old lady that had bought the tickets for our anniversary since my husband is the Zappa fan and how much it would mean to him to see the show.( kind of funny, it was our 20th anniversary of our first date, and the night of our first date that many years ago, what was he wearing but a ZAPPA TEESHIRT)

I have to admit, I dont want to say I was never a fan, but I guess I never really listed to the music that closely growing up.STUPID ME HUH!

My husband always has something Zappa playing while he's down in his hobby shop, and subliminally I must have picked up something because I knew a lot of the songs! You guys were fantastic! It is one of the best shows I have ever seen! NO KIDDING!

So sad that the talent of Frank Zappa was cut short in his early death, but it was nice to see his son carry on his music. What a fine tribute to a talented musician and also to see Dwezil carry on, and find his own very very talented niche! Not only do you do your dad proud, but I commend you and your band for your talents as well! What a great show!

Thank you also making yourself available to your audience, it says a lot about who you are as a team AND AS AN INDIVIDUAL! I thought it very humbling!

Best wished and much GREAT SUCCESS to you all!

Regards,

Linda from Beverly!

Amazing! My first ZPZ show. I've been a big Zappa fan for many years but was never able to see him live, so this was very special and I am in awe of what D has accomplished here. The musicianship was incredible and the treatment of the music was exactly what I hoped for.

The "trifecta" itself was worth the ticket money and the reaction by the crowd was priceless - feels great to realize I am not the only one who loves this stuff.

Although I was a little disappointed by the lack of Inca Roads, the set list was great and I did notice the little Inca theme snuck into the first solo of Outside Now.

All in all, a fantastic show and can't wait til they come back to this area again!

Agreed, greatest thing I've ever heard live by far. The opening two jams along with the trifecta were my favorite parts, they totally did Frank's musical genius justice!

It just gets better every time! Last nights crowd was way more enthusiastic than Sunday in NoHo which was very cool ! Everyone was obviously having a blast on and off stage. That setlist just flowed with perfection (except for that one teeny spot Scheila screwed up on  ) Peaches/echidna's/G-Spot was INSANE. Lucille and I am the Slime also stood out. I brought a ZPZ "newbie" (my wife) who is now a FULL FLEDGED fan. My oldest daughter was home cryin' because she wasn't old enough to get in, then I found out she could have with Mom & Dad....haven't told her yet. Thanks again to everyone in the band for yet another unforgettable evening. Also, HUGE thanks to Glynn...Liz was in tears over your very kind deed. Can't wait till the Fall ! Love y'all !!
Mark, Donna, Liz and soon to be fan, Samantha

The show was AMAZING. Beyond amazing. It's hard to find the right words to describe it. I am 18, and this was my second ZPZ show. I didn't think it was possible, but it was better than last year. The night before, I couldn't sleep, because I was so excited about the show (which is ridiculous, but really, I was never even so excited on Christmas Eve) and I was not disappointed. The person who said that the Trifecta alone was well worth the ticket price was right.

Last year we had an extra ticket for the show in Boston, and we gave it to our friend, who had no idea who Frank was. The day after the show he went out and started buying Zappa albums. He is now a huge Zappa fan, all because of the show, and he came back with us again this year, and knew all the songs. I was so proud.

Unfortunately, I was never able to see a Frank show, (like I said I am 18, so I wasn't even born yet) but Zappa Plays Zappa is such a great show, and every Zappa fan is so lucky that there is such a talented and devoted band still playing his music for all the fans. I know it has been said hundreds of times, but Dweezil, and the entire band (who are certainly qualified as a Zappa band), Frank would be so proud.

The only thing that I disliked about the show was the venue. I absolutely loathe the Hampton Casino Ballroom. This show is absolutely NOT an "18+" show. A friend of mine, whose birthday was the day after the show (today), was not allowed admittance because he was only 17. He tried to tell them that he would be 18 in just a few hours (his birthday was clearly printed on his license as 08/07/1990), but they wouldn't let him in. Last year in Boston ZPZ was not 18+, because it is ridiculous to have it as such.
Also, I left my sweatshirt on my seat after the concert, and they gave me a hard time about going back in to get it, even though the woman had literally just seen me walk down the stairs less than 10 seconds before I turned around after I realized I was missing it. They then refused to let me look for it. One guy rolled his eyes at me, and said "all i can tell ya's is you need to call tomorrow, you need to leave we are stacking chairs".

The only reason I say all that is because, as much as I despise the Casino Ballroom, if ZPZ plays there again, I will go. But ZPZ is the ONLY band I would make the exception for. They are well worth the aggravation.

One more "Holy Shit what a show"!!!!!!

Saw ZPZ down in Providence back in the spring and could not imagine a better performance than that one........but somehow it was done lastnight in Hampton Beach! Great crowd~~ completely enthralled with the show!
The Trifecta was pure talent and the crowds reaction was priceless!

Have read a few times that ZPZ will be in Boston late October.......anyone out there know when and where?? Have been frequently checking the site and the fall dates are nowhere to be found. Checked stuff that's coming to Boston and nothing there either. Can anyone help this new Zappa fan so that she can get to another show SOON!!??!!

Re: Boston/October

All Dweezil said was late Oct, early Nov. and that it will be posted on the "dates" of the site, after the last show on this leg of the tour...only three more shows...
So I figure something will be posted by Monday

Langley , who met Franks band in '88, now Dweezils' in '08

WOW!! My 4th ZPZ experience and 2nd at the crappy Casino. Doesn't matter. They get better each time. IMO this band is better than any of Franks bands. Saw him only once in Salem,MA in 1984. Previous posters have already hit the highlights. Loved Purple Lagoon with a funkier beat. The solos were incredible as usual. Jamie blew me away with his jazzy solo. Dweezil is unbelievable!!!!! I got chills during parts of the Joes Garage portion. Outside Now brings tears. Maybe someday we'll hear Watermelon if possible. That is a fave. So is Sleep Dirt. I got very lucky to catch Pete Griffins pick when he threw it into the audience and I was about 50' back from Dweezil. Nice throw, Pete. I will treasure and use the pick. I have been a guitar player for 35 years and only recently bought a fretless bass to make some tracks. So it has a good home!!! I dig the bass clef on it. See you in the fall!!!

I've never been to the Casino except for the 2 ZPZ shows. I'm not crazy about all the people coming and going all night, but the shows have been great. I've seen Frank many times, even been lucky enough to have 2nd row seats, but never felt like I was close to the stage like at the Casino with ZPZ. And the acoustics are supprisingly really good. It was a great night. Please keep coming back.

To be honest, I didn't have high expectations coming in -- I had no idea what the concert would be like, and I feared the worst. But wow, just wow! The band was absolutely amazing; the sheer amount of memory to remember all of those insane key/rhythm/groove changes and execute them perfectly is absolutely staggering.

One of my top 3 all-time concerts -- the purest display of instrumental prowess. The only thing I'd say is that perhaps they could work in a little more original music. I love hearing classic tunes, but Dweezil and the band clearly have a separate (but amazing) musical vision -- I want to hear it!

Will definitely be attending next time you guys roll around; hopefully, I'll bring a few friends =).
