Did you attend this ZPZ show at the Paramount Center in Peekskill?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

The show was AMAZING! One of the best shows Ive ever been to. I never had the chance to see Frank play live, but I kept having to remind myself it wasnt him! Ray White really made the show. DZ, your guitar playing was amazing! I had no idea that you were so good. As a guitar player myself, after getting home, I ran to get my guitar and start playing, you were truly inspiring. I loved the setlist and the encore was amazing, two of the songs I was hoping for! Im a huge fan, but I didnt recognize the first song of the night. Ive searched and searched for a setlist but I couldnt find one. Anyone who could tell me the name itd be greatly appreciated. GREAT SHOW! And see you on Halloween.

I was blown away by last night's show in Peekskill. I've seen Frank at least a dozen times, starting back in 1974 and to be honest, I didn't expect Zappa Plays Zappa to be as fantastic as it was. Close your eyes and you could swear you're listening to Frank and the old band(s) again. Every single musician on the tour is amazing and up to Frank's standards.

I was truly impressed!

(And - as a bonus - I actually ran into old friends at the concert I haven't seen in almost 20 years!)

WOW!

Way to go Dweezil!!!

WOW!!! What a show Dweezil. You and your band were great. I went to a lot of your dads shows at the palladium in NYC for the Halloween performances starting in the early 70's, 80's. I have to tell you, you did your dad proud last night and I'm sure everynight. Man you guys were tight. Scheila, great touch going into the front row with the little girl. I was a couple rows behind you and it was so cool. Ray and you gave her your cain at the end of the show. Think of the memories that little girl is going to have. God bless. Dweezil, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to stay out there and sign autographs, hand out some guitar picks and shake hands. Man that is such a good thing. To the band, my God you guys and gal were so incredibly good. I was just blown away right from the first note.
Bless you all, thanks so much,
David[/b]

My first Zappa show. I was supposed to see Frank during his last tour, but it just didn't work out. Just following that disappointment I became heavily immersed in Frank's music, the main conduits of which were Dweezil (I've got "Having a Bad Day" on vinyl!!!), Mr. Keneally, and "The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life" cds.

Anyway, amazing show. Dweezil, your evolution as a musician is truly awe-inspiring. I always felt you were among the best rock guitarists of the "shreddy" variety (no offense, not that any were implied or should be taken), although you had a lot more going on with your tunes, timing, inherited sense of humor. Now, however, you are clearly a fully realized musician whose means of expression happens to be the guitar. Endless thanks for adding "Inca Roads," which is one of my favorite of your father's tunes. And as soon as you announced doing some of Joe's Garage I was so hoping to hear "Outside Now" and there it was. The whole band was incredible and Ray's presence just the cherry on a sundae that was already perfect. Wonderful vocals and great solos all around. While I'm sure the first ZPZ tour was excellent, I certainly didn't miss Steve or Terry and the trade of Napoleon Murphy Brock for Ray White was mostly even as Ray gets some extra points since he plays guitar.

Thanks Dweezil, Scheila, Joe, Jamie, Billy, Aaron, Pete, and Ray for all the wonderful music and fun. Amazing music played my amazing musicians who were clearly having as much fun playing as we were listening. I hope to see you again.

This was the third Tour de Frank show that I attended, and one of the greatest performances I have seen in my life. When Dweezil walked on stage and said that it was the final show of the tour and "you never know what's going to happen," I knew this would be a special night. What followed was nothing short of amazing.

The band was in absolute peak form, playing with unparalleled awareness and precision. Every member demonstrated their virtuosity throughout, especially during the ridiculous "trifecta" of "Peaches En Regalia" > "Echidna's Arf (Of You)" > "G-Spot Tornado", which forced the crowd into such a frenzy that Dweezil was inspired to insert "Inca Roads" into the setlist.

Numerous extended jams defined the night, the most noteworthy of which was "King Kong". The band simply killed it. Memorable performances were also turned in on "Pygmy Twylyte", "Magic Fingers", and "Florentine Pogen".

The show culminated with the classic Zappa closer "Sofa", which was marked by an emotional response by Dweezil upon striking the final chord. What a great moment. The crowd erupted and the band quickly came back out and rocked the house with an encore of "I'm The Slime" into "Willie The Pimp".

In the words of a fellow concertgoer, "holy shit!".

To top it all off, Dweezil kindly remained on stage long after the show to chat with the fans and sign a ridiculous number of autographs. I will never forget this amazing experience.

Dweezil, thank you so much for bringing Frank's music to life for my generation. I am 25 years old and can't imagine my life without it.

Doh. I thought he said as part of the ticket price for this show we could get a d/l. My wife heard the same thing I did, maybe we misheard.

:D Wow!!! My first Frank show was in 77, and my first ZPZ show was 6/06, and I never missed a tour. Dweezil and company achieved the unachievable last night, in 2 short years they have mastered the master. Improving with every tour, DZ has come of age, playing solos (Inca Roads and Wet T-shirt Night especially)that were as good as FZ himself. This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but it is time to give credit where credit is due.

Joe Traver's drums on Packard Goose blew me away too. I always loved the percussion as Zappa comes out of the solo in the middle of the song, and Joe handled it with a pounding determination. The rest of the band NEVER missed thier mark either, and the Joe's Garage suite was a real highlight, using the original album recordings of Frank as the Central Scrutinizer. Does humor belong in music? Absolutely!

My favorite part of any Zappa show was always the guitar solos, watching Frank's left hand while listing to the notes was the only way to hear them all. I soon realized no one could ever duplicate that left hand, and therefore, Frank's distinct sound. All that has changed, Dweezil has his father's 'left hand', and that is the highest compliment I can possibly give.

These are just some brief observations of a very happy camper. After the show, with big grins on our faces, we all agreed that what we had seen, and heard, was undescribable.

Zappa Plays Zappa? Zappa IS Zappa!
