Did you attend the second ZPZ show at the Mod Club in Toronto?

Dweezil and the band love reading your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Awesome show! Awesome band! Awesome setlist! Awesome performance!

This was my 6th time seeing ZPZ. Toronto and Buffalo in 2006, Toronto and Buffalo in 2007, and Kitchener and Toronto this year. Thanks for coming back to Toronto!

Tonight's show (Oct 23) at The Mod Club was sold out with a capacity of 250. The 2007 Buffalo show was a small club show as well, and Kitchener was pretty intimate too (but a bigger club). However, tonight's show was the best of the 3 club shows I've seen! The choice to sit or stand was nice, as they had about 20 rows of seats on the floor with a few empty seats as some preferred to stand off to the sides. I still enjoyed the 3 larger concert hall/theatre shows as well... I enjoyed the bigger presentation and was lucky to have seats in the first 10 rows. A club show is beneficial to all guests, as you can choose your spot and move around if desired. There was definitely something special about tonight's show.

Excellent sound and mix... look forward to hearing the audio downloads.

Oct 27th update (here is the new corrected setlist thanks to Max Lobster, as my original post was by memory and I actually forgot about The Black Page, and The Black Page#2!!!)...

Treacherous Cretins
City of Tiny Lights
Dirty Love
Florentine Pogen
The Black Page
The Black Page #2
Inca Roads
Chunga's Revenge
Guitar Giveaway + Jam (w/I'm A Beautiful Guy contest theme music)
Joe's Garage
Wet T-Shirt Nite/Toad-o-line
Wind up Working in a Gas Station
San Berdino
Uncle Remus
Montana
Dog Breath
Zomby Woof
Oh No
Orange County Lumber Truck
Trouble Every Day
Token of My Extreme (with band introductions)

Encore:

Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy (q; Tom Sawyer and The Spirit of Radio)
Willie The Pimp (audience choice instead of I'm The Slime)

My 9th ZpZ show and I thoroughly enjoyed the show, even air horn screaming guy, who sat right beside us. Got in for the sound check too excellent eat that question ... can we get that included with the download???? Show was great Jamie be bopping to the music, Ray obviously having a good time ... was looking forward to Billy the Mountain ... anyway Dweezil was smooth as silk. Smiling ... too many highlights to mention ... They did the classic version of City of Tiny lights, the version i prefer memories of Antwerp ..... Inca Roads, nice! Chunga, Dirty love really good!!!!! Ray as always just amazing a joy to watch and listen to! Joe, Billy, Pete ... Aaron although he could not be seen ... perhaps he should return to standing on his chair so we know he's there ..... Dweezil as always stuck around, shook every hand, signed every ticket, set list and piece of flesh thrown his way ... Spoke with Billy and Jamie after the show, they seemed to be enjoying our Canadian Customs, infatuated by the beauty of the Canadian Wild life ....I hope I get to look at those pictures too! wink wink!!!!! what a show ! couldn't be better! Wish there was time to stick around for beers with good friends (you know who you are) Maybe Antwerp or Amsterdam on the European tour????

Thanks Dweezil for keeping the music alive and available .... Music IS the best

Phil and Pete

great show, everything i expected...oh and just for you know who....in my opinion.
while in line i was 'outed' and defended my opinion on the 1st show and the kitchener show and low and behold almost all agreed with me after pointing out a few thing...

ps:remember the sandwhich story,it will live on.
pps:enjoy the rest of the tour but don't get the vip tickets, not worth it for a piece of coloured paper....in my opinion.

This was my 8th ZPZ show and what a show it was. The setlist was absolutely perfect. My wife even commented how it was just like one of my Zappa mix cds, all music and no schtick. DZ mentioned there was one vote for Chunga, which was my vote so thank you DZ for playing that super bitchin' version.

Aron and DZ get my vote for MVPs last night. DZ's playing is getting better and more FZ like with every show. Aron once again demonstrated the talent and characteristics of a musician who could have easily auditioned and made the cut in any of FZ's bands. This kid has a bright future. I can't wait to hear that bitchin' solo he played in Inca Roads.

Once again all I can say is this was a perfect show.

I was reading in other reviews about the privilege of sitting between Dweezil's FUCH's amps, well I had this honour in Toronto row 1 dead centre and I must say it was amazing hearing the rest of the band on the PA but listening to Dweezil directly from his amps..... turn them up Dweezil, hopefully the download can reflect the amazing mix a select few are treated to nightly. ... just an amazing talent! Thanks Dweezil

Hey Dweezil; I read the reviews lately and I'm finding a common theme ... Billy the Mountain ... Toronto was my 9th show, there wasn't much on the set list I hadn't heard you and the ensemble play, well except for Billy the Mountain ... Is there any chance of getting a copy of BTM added to the download for this show ... after all I've heard it's the unofficial theme song for the tour, I would have loved to hear you guys play it. Looking forward to my 10th show! See ya soon

Music is the Best

Phil

YOWSER YOWSER!!!!
man o mano what a smoker of a show..i got there late but in time to get in and get primo seats just to the left of pete and jaime about 12 feet away>>> from the stage..what a treat.
great show and every tune enjoyed my me and my crowd..sound was very good as well.
there was actually very nice women at this show>>> bonus!! like the girls with the TITTIES AND BEER t shirts!!sitting beside me with their father and uncle..all in da family zappa fans!!! loves it!!
dz amazed me this time round<i was at the 1st show here in toronto in 2006 with vai and bozzio>.and this time it was zpz with this lineup that thrilled and amazed all in attendance.
there was young tots and some older gents that had seen frank in the early 70's and they were in tears.
1 of these guys was yelling at dz at the begining of chungas revenge and i quote"c'mon dweezil just like your dad!!! and when the dweez strated it up the older guy just started nodding his head and rolling his eyes like it had been delivered as per his wishes..it was touching to see that.
the band matured beyond their age.. well executed and served up like frank woulda liked it.
bassist pete griffin was awesome and a favorite with the women and .at one point on inca roads the venue shook
for 10 full seconds!!!well maybe 5 anyways!!!
scheila perfromed so many tasks that she seems to need a new moniker like that of the multitask her !!!and that great smile of hers is just plain infectious she works really hard and has fun doing her job, what an asset to the band and a pleasure to watch her performance.
additional keys and drums and percussion were hidden by the twin towers and amps in the front line, but they were heard LOUD AND CLEAR!!! way to go guys joe aewsome, billy and Aaron brilliant!!!
dweezil reminded of me of frank so many times during the show.. his constant attention to what he was doing whist performing and occasionly glancing at various people in the crowd and then giving that smile and shaking his head, that suggested that he was amazed to be actually performing this awesome music and watching the crowd get into it, and all the characters in the audience as well.like AIRHORN GUY!!!!
this guy was stage right, front row, in front of scheila and kept making air horn sounds so much so, that at one point the band led by dz started to amuse themselves by mimicking the dudes air horn noise one member at a time vocally until they all made that crazy noise toghether in unison.
everybody laughed a hardy laugh!!!! including said AIRHORN GUY who seemed to take that as redemption for his actions.
unbeleivable!!!
the beers flowed freely and the show thundered on to great appreciation and 2 encores<only>
with the audience choosing willie the pimp over zomby woof
dz and the band stuck around for what seemed forever to sign stuff and chat with the crowd.
thats devotion to the fans for sure after a 3 hr show most artists would be gone like a flash of lightning.
my only regret was that i didnt go to the show on the 22cd where black napkins was played.
next time if there is i will be at every show i can afford!!!
so there you go thats my 2cents worth<hey maybe i spent a little more>>
oh and ps the young dude that won the super sweede was a keyboard player but did just fine jamming with da band and was certainly thrilled beyond to be up ther with these cats
i have a lot of pics so if your reading this pm me and i will send afetr i confirm that its you.
maybe ill post a few of them a little later.
to dweez and the band
THANK YOU FROM DEEP DOWN ZPZ!!!! i mean it!!!!

Setlist correction. The Deathless Horsie was the first song of the show, not TC as listed.

ya people
i made a rather large omission in my review
RAY WHITE RAY WHITE

i have to say i was so stoked bout the show i forgot one of the key buzzes for me and that was to see an original band member and stellar vocalist..he just killed it
was a pleasure to hear him and watch
thank you RAY and sorry bout that after all it is human to err..
speaking of hearing i want to also compliment glynn at the F.O.H for his great mix
outstanding job that should make the mp3 thing alot easier whn u have that kinda sound to begin with THANKS GLYNN

also it was great to see FRANKS guitar tech MR NORDEGG handling the whole guitar thang with expertise and without him there we would not hear dweez in the same way!!!
also to all the other behind the scenes peeps who helped pull off this amazing show
thank you all!!!!

It is such a joy to sit in an audience solely there to listen..no chatter, no unnecessary moving around..an audience of smiling faces..sheer ecstasy.
The band is so disiplined and tight. yet, obviously enjoying every minute on stage.
The show at the Mod Club was the best ever ZPZ.
Keep coming back to Ontario, we'll follow.
