Tonight was my 2nd ZPZ experience, and what a show it was! Even got a set list and my ticket signed by the Dweez himself! The whole band was once again in top form, Scheila, you are simply amazing(what a great Cartman!!!!), Aaron's solo in Inca Roads was incredible, Joe, Billy, Pete, and Jamie were fabulous as usual, Ray White's voice sounds as good as it did 20 years ago...maybe even better!! And last but certainly not least, Dweezil has grown into such an amazing guitarist and band leader, and deserves all kudos for bringing Frank's music out for us to appreciate in a live setting.
Highlights for me were Pygmie Twylite, Inca Roads,Billy the Mountain, and the cool interaction with Ray and Scheila during Willie the Pimp.
Wish list for next year:Keep it Greasy, Tinseltown Rebellion, Penguin in Bondage, Watermelon in Easter Hay, Son of Mr. Green Genes.

Dweezil your dad would be so proud of you.... You and the whole band have brought the beauty, comedy and complexity of Franks music back for many of us who were not able to see Frank live... There is only so much you can get out of a DVD or CD. This was by far the BEST concert I have been to. I have always said that the crowd seems to have a better time at a concert where you get a genuine feeling that the band is having a good time and you guys are either really good at acting or truly love to play Franks music. There were a few songs that we would have loved to hear (but hey the list is long and you can’t play them all in a night even at home LOL) but maybe next time you come to Victoria (Wink Wink) we will hear some more from your list.
I just hope I can figure out how to get my free download of the show when it’s done, I won’t rest until I figure that one out. It will be played many many times in our household when we do get it I guarantee you!
Everyone was so good it blew us away; just wanted to say thank you so very much to all of you (band and crew who helped make it all happen) for the memorable evening.

Wow that was the best show ever!! My dad is the HUGEST Zappa fan and that brought back lotsa memories for me, I actually can't remember my dad listening to anything other than Frank Zappa when I was growing up. I dont get to see live music very often and its so sweet to hear such quality musicianship. It really looked like you all were having a fun time playing together and I hope you get to come back to Victoria one day, me and my dad will for sure be there!! Very cool thing you're doing with the download of the show, thank you! You guys are AWESOME!!

Great show last night in Victoria! 1st time I have seen ZPZ live. We were in the 2nd row beside the guys with the arab costumes (Sheik Yerbouti). Nice intimate venue, as I had never seen a show there either. The level of profesionallism (spelling) was unreal. This was no cheap cover band!! It was as good as people said it was in reviews and Youtube. Setilist was killer!! I got one of them and Dweezil signed it after the show! What a great way to treat fans of music! Loved the band solos and moments where Dweezil was "conducting" the band. Guitar sounded great, so did Roys vocals.
There is no where to hide in that band, as at any given moment you are called upon to play, and play well. A great group of performers.
Anways, we came away totally impressed and will go again!

Saw ZPZ for the third time last night after Seattle in '06 and Vancouver in '07. Enjoyed the show immensely and am looking forward to the download (no matter how long it takes) and another show in the future.

Besides hearing Frank's songs played so well (e.g. Peaches was especially good), I think that the ZPZ band is also getting more comfortable in being creative and taking some ownership of some of the pieces. Inca Roads and King Kong being good examples from last night. It seems like there is some progression in the way the band is approaching the material after nearly three years of working together.

Thanks for the great work and looking forward to the next time ZPZ comes around.

PS: Billy the Mountain was really fun too.

This is as good as it gets ,a mind bending experience,and funny too. You are truly amazing performers,selections I thought I may not care to hear blew me away.Please come back soon.

I tried for tickets in Vancouver and was too late so I went for victoria. I live here in Van but the trip to victoria was worth it. We left on the Sunday before the show and had a ferry ride over that had too change course 2 times and made you dizzy just to walk. But damn was it worth it! I never had the chance to see Frank as I was born in 66 and raised in Winnipeg which he never played in. So thank you Dweezil for keeping your Fathers music in the family. Seeing the band was fantastic. I was the one shouting ugliness, Dance contest and of course Billy The Mountain! So when you did play Billy I was elated. I never actually thought you would take the time to learn that opus. I was smiling the whole way through that song and the whole show. Of course I knew every song as did a multitude of people in the audience from what I could sense. The secret words Tim Hortons/Donuts and Shark Vagina were used half just enough to provide a uniqueness to the show...the next time you guys play vancouver I will be there this time yelling for Black Napkins, Crab Grass Baby and Magic Fingers. I could hear Dweezil, that you have worked so hard on this music as well as your guitar playing. You sound so much different than you did not too long ago playing on some of Frank's music..ie Sharleena live or Stevie's Spanking or even your own Shampoo Horn..which I yelled out as well...thank you so much for keeping the torch for you Father's music burning bright. In my opinion only you and Ensemble Modern are part of the true lineage of Frank's music. Not to dis the rest who are playing it but you and Ensemble have the connections that are unlike any of the other projects.... I suspect your Father is very proud of you Dweezil and would approve of how it is being played....

The concert was like, WOW. Dweezil and the band were amazing, Ray can really belt them out.
I'm the guy that won the guitar, Geoff. It was cool, being on stage and trying to keep time with them. What I am really trying to do now is find someone with photos of me onstage. I was there by myself and I brought my camera but I was so taken up in the moment that I forgot I had it.
I'd like to thank everyone involved and I lied I do play a little acoustic, but I never really took it seriously. I think now I will , this may be a heads up. A guy from my work is giving me an amp, so here I go.
Thanks also to all the encouragement from the crowd after the concert, that really made it special.
If anyone has photos of me onstage I would really appreciate any that you have and you can send them to me here, I think.

Truly a dream come true to have ZPZ band come all the way to Victoria! You can't (or possibly you can) imagine how much my band mates and I appreciate all of the hard work you put into your show. We do not attempt to do covers of your music but definitely inspired! I want to let Dweezil know that his ability to make himself available for autographing memorabilia after the show is so nice. Your father's music was all I practically listened to for twenty years of intensive studies and immigration to Canada (I was born in New Orleans). Music is a very important part of my life and helps me with my not so recently acquired seasonal affective disorder. Your concert was like a beaming ray of desperately needed sunshine. Our winters are quite gloomy here. I was also able to make it to the concert in Vancouver despite the snow and after 30 plus years of concert going able to make it to a sound check. What a learning experience that was! The bands' composure during some annoying technical difficulties was professional beyond compare. You guys and gal made it into "Peaches en Dissonance". Absolutely Frank.
Dweezil- I hope you enjoy the RCMP ball cap I gave you and wear it in good health. The drummers in Frank's bands have always been what I consider to be the best in the world (not to mention all of the musicians) but I know Frank was a percussionist. Absolutely loved to watch him play the drums with Ruth Underwood on the "Dub Room Special". Anyway,because I'm a drummer, for Joe to come down from behind the traps and shake my hand and thank me for being a loyal fan- what class. I believe he is one of the most fluid drummers I've witnessed and he's the vault meister to boot! Billy hits the triads on the marimba like nobody else. "Jazz isn't dead- it just smells funny."
Thank you to Gail Zappa for all the hard work she's put into the vault, raising an amazing family and a gracious Dweezil (he's my Barack Obama of music) . I was happy to read in one of the liner notes that Steve Vai said there is enough material to release for generations to come.
I was fortunate enough to see Frank in concert 3 times and once in Des Moines, Iowa he came out to talk to the crowd @ exit stage left. Saw Ray White with Ike Willis at two concerts in the eighties. Frank was in the middle so I nicknamed them the "Oreos". LOL.
For all the fans out there that may not Know this Frank has a spider, fish, jelly-fish and planet named after him. Stephen Hawking is a fan, the greatest astrophysicist of our generation. But I digress.
Anyway, I came from a broken home and Frank was a father figure to me. I read all of his liner notes and interviews in English that were published. A complex genius that taught me the absurdities of this life but to live it to the fullest and mostly sober. His bands were my "Beatles and Frank was my John Lennon".
As Joe says on the Over-nite Sensation/ Apostrophie DVD, "Some people get it and some don't" Well the ones that do get it are very grateful to the ZPZ Band the Zappa Family Trust and Dweezil. Take all the time you need for the free downloads, fuck negativity and yea for Tim Horton's

Thanx for a great show - I don't know how you can play such demanding music and appear to be so relaxed at the same time. There was palpable warmth coming from the stage and the energy and enthusiasm of the band was contagious. The music of course speaks for itself - it is timeless and unmatchable. Dweezil's guitar playing floored me - like his dad's in terms of technique but I think with more feel (emotion?) and somehow more melodic. The rest of the band was equally impressive and I enjoyed the 2nd guitarists Strat technique as well. It's so wonderful that there are 2 amazing Zappa guitarists (Father & son) each as capable but with their own wrinkles. Frank would be thrilled to have his work performed in it's rock band format so accurately and with such great spirit. I did catch the original Mother's in 1968 in Vancouver and have been a devoted lover of the Zappa catalogue ever since. Thanx for keeping this legacy alive - I really can't say enough about how much I enjoyed the show. Even my wife (not a Zappa fan) has been converted. Thanx especially for that!
