Did you attend this ZPZ show at the 1000 Lakes Festival?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews!

I was at the show in Winnipeg yesterday, absolutely great and fantastic.

If anyone on the tour reads this, please, for the good folks in MN, please allow Mr. White to unleash his fury upon DOREEN. We missed that one in Wpg, and hope it is included in the future.

Thank you a million,

I read somewhere that they were rehearsing Doreen. I am going tonight and I am very excited. I hope they play it. I went last year and while Nappy, Terry and Steve will be missed, I cant wait to see Ray. Please post more reviews of last nights show plus a set list. Thanks.

Was there a secret word of the night at the concert? I know that at a lot of Frank's concerts, there was a secret word. By divine providence, as if a light shined down from heaven, Next Wednesday's tour date was moved to where I live so I'll get to go now. I'm definitely very excited. :D

Please please please please can we get a TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF WHEN YOU DANCE in CHICAGO?

That song is so easy, just do an instrumental version.

If you need, I can play the bass for that tune.

I did see the show at the 10,000 lakes festival (watch those decimal points). Like the show I saw last fall in Minneapolis, it was a 10 on a scale of 10. I loved seeing/hearing Ray White, that guy can sing anything! I wasn't able to hear his guitar solo, some technical difficulty. I loved hearing new songs from last fall. The 'Wild Love/Yo Momma' (side 4 of Sheik HeirBooti album) was a surprise. I think DZ played the extended FZ guitar solo verbatim. We were about 6 people back from the stage directly in front of DZ. The sound was awesome, the band was tight, it was ladies night. The show was just under 2 hours and we didn't get 'Inca roads' or 'Black Page'. But they did say, we'll see you next year. I'll be there. In fact my buddy said if we had brains, we'd be headed for Milwaukee today.

I have been to every 10klf , and every year I fill out a survey they hand out and write in ZAPPA every year. I was working in the northwoods campground doing very little trying to stay in the shade, I was scheduled to work untill 4PM but when I heard the 1st notes on the keyboard coming from the main stage I said to myself, SELF thats Zappa doing a sound check, so I took off and headed to the front of the stage , yellow work vest on and all, I was so happy, the band was playing and then Dweezil walked up , smiled and waved to us, thanks, a lady next to me commented on his YELLOW pants , I think she was hoping for the look from Zoot Allures photo, we got a gas station intead, San Bernardino and a G-spot tornado, I was tired just watching those fingers move. Then some stage hand walked over to dweez and said what looked like " you have to stop or something, I looked at my watch and it was well after 4, (the field stage started then) or was supposed to. The band FINISHED the song then left the stage. I high 5'd the guy next to me and walked back to work, told the boss to sign me out and hit the shower and rest up for the night.

The show stared on time and from the people around me I don't think they found Illinois Enima Bandit funny at all, I just danced my tail off like a fool anyway, but the Best song for myself was Joe's Garage!
every word in the song and all the notes played were like a cool breeze in the shade on a hot sunny day. It was so good that I had a real tuff time getting into any other bands, don't get me wrong , they are good as well, but, This is the music I love and have for 30 years, the bar is raised quite high and I don't think anybody can touch it. When you add it all up, drummers, keyboareders, guitar's, Sax and the brass , and vocals, you still have to make the music and song's flow together, rise up and down, loud and soft, and Zappa does it so well.
I looked at my watch when it was over :( and thought to myself) self, when they 1st announced Zappa on the bill and time slot, I sure thought it said 07/19/07 main stage 6pm>> 9pm then it was changed to 8:30, and it was over before that. so from 3 hours to 2 and a half, we got the half 1st at the sound check and the 2 hours later. and I'm holding Dweezil to his word when he said, " see you next year". I just hope it's at the 2008 10klf!

Greetings! This is my first post to this board. This was my first time at 10KLF as well as my first time seeing FZ's music performed live.

I'll tell you about the anticipation of the music. A couple of hours before ZPZ came on, I called a friend in New York who is also a nut about Zappa. (When we first met, it was one of the first things we talked about, and that has been a very powerful glue!) The sound check started about 2:30, and he was happy to hear them warming up in the background, and I was excited that I would be seeing them in just a bit.

I am also a huge Particle fan, so I had a couple of hours in between to enjoy their set before 6:00 p.m. finally rolled around.

I got down to the right side of the stage about 100 feet back. They came out and begin with a familiar instrumental, of which I cannot remember the name.

There was a wide mixture of ages, of which I was somewhat in the middle in my upper 30's. There were many younger folks to whom I am certain Zappa's music was new, but they were dancing their butts off and enjoying it.

I sang along with some of the songs with reckless joy and abandon, especially during My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama, Joe's Garage, Uncle Remus, and Cheepnis. (I did my best to utter a blood curdling scream to my friends during the latter when the giant poodle attacked. Great fun!)

The showmanship was spectacular, the energy of the band and audience was so high, and when the show ended with a very touching singing of Happy Birthday to Dweezil's daughter, I couldn't believe what a wonderful experience I had just been a part of.

I would like to thank everyone who participated, and thanks for such a great time. That set was one of a couple of very high points for me at this festival, and I don't think I could ever forget it!

It was an incredible show! I've never seen Dweezil play, and I was blown away. There were a few minor technical difficulties, but being the professionals that they are, they blew right threw them! The Sax/Keyboardist was AWESOME! Her funk and soul totally showed through...plus it was Zola's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZOLA!

I'm planning a road trip to see Zappa Plays Zappa in New York after they come back from Europe...it was incredible.
