I never got a chance to see Frank in concert so let me start off by thanking Dweezil and the band for doing this for Frank and the fans. Thank you very much.

I was aboslutely amazed by the show. Every song was perfect. The songs where Frank was on the screen were so perfect it made me wish I has gotten the chance to see him live.

Joe's Garage
Dupree's Paradise
Dumb All Over
Cheepnis
San Berdino
Illinois Enema Bandit
Wild Love
G-Spot Tornado
Muffin Man
Cosmic Debris
Pygmy Twilight
Suzy Creamcheese
Willie the Pimp

and more and more and more....Almost 3 hours.

Dweezil, I wish I could have stayed to shake your hand. I will do it now. Thank you sir. Thank you very much.

Brian C

my review of this show is simply the band could have played until dawn & the crowd would have still been there. people were ecstatic that they were hearing some of their favorite zappa songs...sitting on the lawn i could hear people gasp & shout out in delight...others were there just for a show & were floored by what they heard. a girl next to me DID NOT want the show to end. the evening weather was fine with an occasional breeze...no rain- thank you god, it rained pretty heavy this morning with about a 40% chance of storms for this evening. the last time the late mr.zappa played columbus, ohio was march of 1988 & the columbus dispatch in a review of that evening's show dubbed it 'wild'. i'm hoping for many old & new fans alike again this evening was indeed wild. it sure seemed so. to dweezil & the band: you nailed it & hard ! the best thing for me about this evening's show is i've got tickets to the cleveland, ohio show saturday & myself & my daughters will then have heard frank's music performed live 3 times in 5 days ! what a positive experience for my children !

I’m writing this in hope that DZ reads it.

Dweezel, at first I was skeptical that you and your band members could pull off playing your fathers music. Well, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree at all. After hearing G-Spot Tornado removed all doubt.

I have to admit, I lost touch with you fathers music after the release of A Ship Arriving to Late... But I have revisited some of Frank’s material from time to time on CD. My favorites being One Size Fits All, Zoot Allures and Shut Up and Play Your Guitar. Now I will have to update my CD library to include some of Frank’s older material like Hot Rats and Weasels Ripped... Waka/Jawaka that I still have on LP.

The band you have assembled is as talented as the line ups you dad put together. And seeing Ray with the band was like a cherry on a sunday. Kudos to all for bringing back some wonderful memories I have. I got to see your father play here in Columbus, Ohio back in ’78 and ’80 at Vets Memorial.

Thanks for remaining faithful to the unconventional assembly of Frank’s body of work. It was grand to hear, especially the older material that when I heard it for the first time, keyed in on it being special.

I hope you come back to our fair city to play again. I’ll bring friends!

For now

Tom D

KILLER SHOW! NOT TO BE MISSED! My husband and I have been huge FZ fans for too many years to count -- Dweezil has confirmed the notion that indeed the apple does not fall too far from the tree.

Like Frank, Dweezil has surrounded himself with the most talented of musicians - and he has inherited Franks ability to shred the guitar with seemingly the least amount of effort. I heard Dweezil say years ago that he thought Eddie Van Halen was the greatest ever guitar player -- I think by learning Franks music he has learned who the real master is! He definitely played like he was testifying to the truth!

San Berdino rocked! Loved Uncle Remus, Yo Mama, Illinois Enema Bandit, City of Tiny Lights and on and on and on --Ray White sang his butt off - Scheila and the rest of the band were awesome! One of the best concerts we have ever been to.

We got the opportunity to meet Dweezil before the show -- kind, generous, unassuming and with a wicked sense of humor - he greeted us all as old friends and even posed for a group picture. Hope he is reading --We forgot to tell him about our dog named Zappa- he's a St. Bernard-Black Lab mix with a white FZ soul patch!

Thanks again Dweezil! Hope you feel the love!

I was at the show last night. What a treat!! I had the pleasure of seeing Frank 5 times in concert and they were always amazing shows.

Same can be said about last night's show. When Ray White came out on stage and began doing some of the tunes he sang with Frank, WOW, flashbacks all over again and to see the giant screen with Frank playing in his usual mind blowing style along with his son was truly amazing.

I went to the show in hopes of hearing some classic favorites and got them plus man many more. San Bernadino, Willie The Pimp, City of Tiny Lights and the eternal Illinois Enema Bandit!

Dwezil sounds very much like his dad and when it comes to playing the guitar, the fruit does not fall far from the tree! Outstanding jams by everyone in the band.

That was the one thing with seeing Frank live, you knew the band was going to be spot on and tight as hell and last night was no different. To hear those chords again and to hear that perfect musicianship!

Keep up the good work guys! You were all stellar last night and I know Frank was with us in spirit last night as well.

Last night in Columbus was my third time seeing the ZPZ band on various legs of the Tour De Frank (Beacon in NYC in June of last year and in Canton Ohio last Fall). The band has grown in many many ways! Improving upon near perfection is not an easy task! I really appreciated the attention to detail given to the early tracks performed (in particular: Brown Shoes Don't Make It, America Drinks and My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama). Guest Ray White proved his worth with great vocals in showcase songs Illinois Enema Bandit, Advance Romance and San Berndino. Dweez, you've done it again! Kudos to you in putting this outstanding band together in the first place, and in keeping the spirit of FZ alive for another year. I really enjoyed the tone you were able to achieve with the SG. That Fuchs Supreme ODS is an amazing amp! Next time, let's chat over some Sliders with Cheese! Hi Ho Silver, Away ....BTW how many times was Potato Headed Bobby mentioned in the show?

Wow, did you get the # of that truck that rolled down Neil Ave. last night?
I see alot of shows and this one was truly one for the ages. I mean "Sliders with Cheese" how appropriate next to the House of Crave!! Personal fav had to be Dumb All Over, it just made me dance, and it was dead on the money! DZ, if you are reading this, PLEASE keep this up as your dad is smiling down on us! Peace.

Dweezil & Co. blew my nuts off last night. Thank you for the city of tiny lights.....

if the setlists varied nightly, I would see this band at least 10 shows every tour......

Dweezil and band and the lovely shiela, as I mentioned in the comments from the Cincy show, took about 10 people with me and saw your awesome show in Columbus. What can you say , but another tight tremendous show. I brought with me 4 people that have never heard your fathers music, they came away converts and are looking out music stores to buy your dads music. Its hard to find in public, so I turned them on to your website.
DZ, I am going to hold you to your promise of returning to Cincinnati next year. We will pack the place!!!! How did you guys like the comfy confines of moonlight Gardens when you played here in Cincy?? I remeber my parents back in the day saying that Glenn Miller and all those big bands played that venue. You acually made refernce to that fact in one of your songs.
Anyway, get your ass back to Cincinnatti soon, these 2 and 3 hours trips to Columbus and Indy are causeing me alot of lost time at work!!!
And Dweezil, G-spot-tornado was.....what can you say..brilliantlly played, I was dam surprised that you could pull that song off..but you and the band did!! See you next year in Cincy!!!

I have never been to any of Frank's shows, being that I am too young for that era, but when I got the opportunity to see Zappa Plays Zappa, I couldn't resist and neither could my dad. Arriving at the show when the gates opened, my dad and I were rather curious how the show was going to go down. Eight o'clock rolled around and the band walked on to a stage that was full of instruments. I counted 12 guitars and basses, 3 saxophones, 5 keyboards, and a percussion section to match. Once the band got rolling all doubts were set aside. "Zappa" played Zappa and it was incredible. The musicians were changing instruments mid song and playing multiple instruments at the same time in order to produce the songs the way they were meant to be played and it sounded great. Also the seamless integration of original Zappa films with the live performance was very nicely done. All in all, the show sounded and felt like I thought a Zappa show should sound and feel, and brought back memories of Zappa for my dad. I will be telling my friends to go see these shows.

One thing I wish I had was tape of the show. My dad had taping equipment and was told he was not aloud to bring it into the show. I think it would be awesome if either taping was aloud at the shows or CD's were made of the live performances to be purchased at the merchandise tent.

Thank you Guys. I will definitely go to a show again if I get the chance.

It was great to see Tony Hale (Buster from Arrested Development) playing drums now, and Mike Rutherford from Genesis moonlighting on guitar for Zappa.

The set was great and the band was as solid, Ray fit well with the band. This was my first time at this venue and I must say it was perfect. The set list this season had some wonderful and interesting choices, I'm glad it wasn't just the same show as last year (which was excellent) The Frank video worked best for me on "Dumb All Over", and I'm glad they didn't play all of the songs that I've seen reported to have video. It's not that it's bad but I prefer hearing Dweezil solo.

The set list:

My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama
Echidna's Arf (Of You)
Son of Suzy Creamcheese
Brown Shoes Don't Make It
America Drinks and Goes Home
City of Tiny Lights
Pygmy Twylight
Cheepnis
Advance Romance
Dumb All Over (with FZ video)
What's New in Baltimore?
Dupree's Paradise
Uncle Remus
Willie the Pimp
Joe's Garage
Wind up Workin' in a Gas Station
San Ber'dino
The Illinois Enema Bandit
Wild Love
Yo' Mama

ENCORE
Cosmik Debris
G-Spot Tornado
Muffin Man
