Did you attend this ZPZ show at The Metropolis?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews!

amazing show. the band was extremely tight and took FZ's music to more exploratory domains than last year. dweezil's playing was intense, ray white has still got a chops and, well, what can be said about joe travers and scheila gonzalez? incredible.

here is the setlist as best as i can remember it (meant to write it down but forgot a pen)

Black Napkins
My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama
Echidna's Arf
City of Tiny Lites (enter Ray White)
Advance Romance
Dumb All Over
What's New In Baltimore?
Andy
Son of Suzy Creamcheese >
Brown Shoes Don't Make It >
America Drinks and Goes Home
Pygmy Twylyte
Dupree's Paradise (including "Sausage Locker" improvisation)
Uncle Remus
Willie the Pimp
Joe's Garage
Wind Up Workin' in a Gas Station
San Ber'dino
The Illinois Enema Bandit
Wild Love >
Yo Mama

Encore:
Cosmik Debris
G-Spot Tornado
Muffin Man
Cheepnis

help me out if i have some sutff missing or mixed up.

the absolutely free medley (especially "brown shoes"), advance romance, pygmy twylyte, joe's garage (perfect down to the central scrutinizer outro), illinois enema bandit and all the encores (especially the video syncing and trading solos between DZ and FZ on "Cosmike Debris" and the impossibly difficult rendition of "G-Spot Tornado) to be particular highlights.

anyways, the crowd was awesome--talked to some really funny and nice FZ fans--and Dweezil and co. clearly appreciated it, calling us the best crowd on the tour.

without the presence of vai or bozzio (or nappy) the band seemed a lot smaller. i don't mean this in a bad way at all. in fact, it gave them a better chance to stretch their legs and get into FZ's music without having to rely on the big guest stars. dweezil, ray and the rest of the band were at centre stage the whole time, and they took control. the show was want for nothing.

come back soon, guys, and bring ike willis and belew!

Absolutely amazing. I missed ZPZ the last time they came due to exams, but the group played an incredibly tight show. They even commented on the insanity of the Montreal crowd.

Special song: Sausage Locker

I managed to get a setlist after the show signed by Ray, Pete, Billy and Dweezil.

Black Napkins (V)
My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama
Echidna's Arf
City of Tiny Lights
Advance Romance
Dumb All Over (V)
What's New In Baltimore?
Andy
Suzy Creamcheese
Brown Shoes
America Drinks
Pygmy Twylyte
Dupree's Paradise
Uncle Remus
Willie The Pimp
Joe's Garage
Gas Station
San Berdino
Illinois Enema Bandit
Wild Love
Yo Mama

Cosmik Debris (V)
G Spot Tornado
Muffin Man (V) - Roll of toilet paper thrown on stage (just like the video)

Cheepnis

Thanks for putting on one of the best concerts I've seen. See you next year and good luck on the rest of the tour.

.....words are'nt facts!!..had to be there to see and feel!What a SHOW!!!What a set-up!!

I'M now 50y and been following FZ since the age of 13y and as Frank always did,surprising,refreshing,authentique,innovative...Dweezil and the boys & girl sure knows how to pull it off!
Without comparision with last years show, last evening "semed" like it started numb, but sure did stay this way too long..the energy started to flow as it should and magic was back where it should and where Frank intended!
Frank always apreciated Montreal's crowd in a unique way and last evening was no exception, the crowd was there where it should and there was'nt 2 bunch-band/crowd...ONLY 1 big family that sure knows how to share!!.......just had to be there! "WE are what we IS"

Gail, this is for you! Many Thanks for everything and NO I did'nt get any autograph but this presence is sure engraved for moons to come!!

One of my greatest joy is this experience, I had bought 5 tickets >>>4 were for Zappa virgin Fan that were thrilled and had many orgasms..which is the aim of these tour....just to keep the ball rolling!

...and to take it further....they're playing in QUÉBEC CITY this evening...ANYONE UP TO IT....I'M WILLING AND ABLE....IF YOU WANNA..LETS GO!
I'VE GOT A MINI-VAN AND ROOM FOR 5 FANS....give me a call if interested >>> 514 998 9909

.....and again....many THANKS to all this this again magical "tour de Frank!!!!"

If I had've known you wanted to go to Quebec city earlier, I would've gone with you and 3 other Zappa fans for sure.

Last night's show was a fantasy come true for me. I had seen FZ 3 times but still had the thirst for more and last night's show quelled that thirst untill the band comes back next year or earlier, I hope. The word tight has been mentioned many times in reviews but I can't find a better word for it. It's like this band has been together for years and years. They played every song extremely well and conducted themselves in a way that would have made FZ proud.

The sound was great, not too loud and crystal clear. My ears didn't ache this morning, not at all, and I thank the sound crew for that. Good music doesn't need to be loud to appreciate.

The videos of Frank playing were spectacular. It kind of made me sad but at the same time I felt priviliged to be able to see his son perform the songs almost as though Frank was there himself conducting the band.

I had a super great time and really enjoyed seeing a top notch band play this extremely difficult music. They did it with class and professionalism that cannot be equaled by any other band except of course FZ's bands.

Thank you Dweezil and the Family Trust for doing this and bringing it to Montreal and I hope to all hell you come back very very soon, I will be there, with my son next time.

I spent 160 bucks last night buying ZPZ merchandise and would have loved to buy everything but the budget wouldn't allow it. My Dumb All Over T will be worn with pride. :)

Thanks again Dweezil, Gail and the Band.

That was incredible! It was one of the best show I ever saw in my life. Extraordinary band and Dweezil is a top guitarist - maybe there's a sort of taboo with this but I really appreciate his work. Also, all the tunes synced with video was very tight and I think is a great concept. A great generous concert.

Thanks again for this memorable -- and stimulating -- event, I'll never forget and will be there next time!

Wow! Even better than the last one, but why??? Last November we had Vai and Bozzio. By The time they came out late in the show, I felt the band held back and let these guys go. The problem for me was the show was smoking at this point and the band pulling back was a bit of a let down. This time the band stayed the same, more than able to pull this stuff off on their own. Adding Ray was brilliant. To have Ray and Napoleon at the same time with this band would just be the shit. Thanks Dweezil for keeping a great legacy alive :-)

WOW !!! july 31st was a nice day for a Zappa show.

That was an incredible great show played by super good musicians. Same former band than last Montreal show on october 24th. The sound was enough good for all over night even if Dweezil's voice was a little bit lower than instruments. As is famous dady, Dweezil is also a guitar virtuoso.

The old partner of FZ, Ray White, still have a very great and powerfull voice. Dweezil had a genius idea by mixing Frank's voice and/or video track with some video and playing all together with the band on stage...They can do that on stage forever now. An unforgettable tribute to Frank's memory and fans.

Thanks to the Zappa family trust, and staff, for all organisation of Frank's tour and special memory effects. Hope to see them again, back in Montreal.

Hey boys & girls..to whom it applies......
Look ah here...please look at each ZPZ concert as a unique "présence" and much less on a "comparision" ideal from the last show.....

....as frank....look at it as "IS"...and maybe find out that its simply a sweet long story...and eacch part come from the whole/hole.....arffffff arffffff arfffff!..."conceptual continuety"......OH MY GOD!!

....listen and analysing are 2 diff words

Great show. Drove in solo from Ottawa. It was well worth it, especially Black Napkins and Muffin Man. I have great photos but don't have enough posts to put them on.
