Did you attend this show at the Fox Theatre in Tucson?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

Great show. My last Frank show may have been in Tucson at U of A in about '82.

These guys can play, and have fun. Took my wife who was a Zappa virgin, and she had a great time. I wore my old T-shirt with "Zappa" over some musical notes and "We don't mess around" on the back, probably 25 - 30 years old (yes it was a little tight) and was surprised to see them selling it again at the stand!

Setlist:
Black Napkins (w/FZ video)
My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama
(Intro Ray White)
City of Tiny Lights
Advance Romance
I Am The Slime
Cheepnis
Carolina Hard Core Ecstacy
Dumb All Over (w/FZ video)
What's New In Baltimore?
Pygmy Twylyte > nice jam
Dupree's Paradise
Uncle Remus
Willie the Pimp
Joe's Garage
Wind Up Workin' At A Gas Station
San Bernadino
Illinois Enema Bandit
Wild Love >
Yo Mama >
Band Intros (like Shiek Yerbouti)

E:
Cosmik Debris (w/FZ video)
G-Spot Tornado
Muffin Man (w/FZ video)

I really could not have asked for anything more. Basic arrangements are Frank's, jams are kinda different in many cases, but great. Yo Mama was almost perfect per Sheik Yerbouti, fantastic. Dweezil seems very humble and appreciative.

Go if you can.

Phil

The show last night in Tucson was great.

Waited a long time to hear some Zappa music live. The band was awesome, and everybody seemed to be having fun playing together. Loved the solos.

Ray- good to see you again, vocals were tight, great addition to the band, hope you feel ok after "sitting on the cactus"

Dweezil- glad you did the tour, many of us long time Frank fans thank you for bringing back something I never thought I would see again. In my eyes you seem very content, at peace, with this project you undertook. I think your dad would be proud of how you have matured into quite a polished axe man. Closed my eyes a few times and thought I was back in 1976.

One more thing, great set(about 3 hours) and had to pee like a race horse at the end. Took care of my business and came back inside after buying a program to find you still signing autographs and talking to the crowd. Thanks for the graph(don't worry it won't be on E-bay) as when I was leaving there were only a handful of folks left and you were still at it. What a class act.

The only disapointment was with the city of Tucson. Didn't even fill the Fox. Hope this doesn't change your mind when you go to schedule your next tour in 08. You said you will be back, and gonna come looking for you if you don't(just kidding). Thanks again for a wonderful night and something I will remember for a long time.

The never ever forget guy.

Dale

This was one to remember.. bought tickets for this and the Phx show within the first seconds of the onsale. Front row Tucson. Not so lucky here, so had to upgrade Phx. I loved last year's production, but am admittedly a HUGE Steve Vai fan so front tickets were a must.

By 2:30 yesterday afternoon, I was running late from work, and thus began my trip through H$ll. As I set out on my 100 mile jaunt, I hit major traffic leaving Phx, ran into a nasty dust storm half way down (i.e. freeway parking-lot with no visibility), followed by a flash thunderstorm w/ lightening. Crawling along, what should've been an hour's drive sofar is well over 2, when next I discover.....yes, major construction on I-10 and a detour route miles away from downtown. Sheez. Icing on the f'ingcake.. I call the boxoffice to make sure my friend could pick up her ticket in time for 5:30 soundcheck. After bouncing around the autodirectory, I finally reached the boxoffice and was told if I was even minutes late I wouldn't be allowed in. Ok. Brief moment of meditation. Annoyed but not discouraged. My one and only chance to see Vai play this year was mere hours away. Uhhhm..... ?!??

I somehow made it to the venue in time and only missed the first runthrough. Didn't realize until the show was 2/3rds through that something went awry and a certain guitar god wasn't showing.. But.... by that time the show was so AMAZING I was really glad I came. Such musicianship!! FZ must be beaming.

Drove back home and at 1am I'm searching for news I obviously missed. Only found the original TM tour announcement from May, so maybe someone here can fill me in. Meanwhile, one thing's for sure. Front/center tonight at the Dodge. Can't wait 8) (..hey, would someone at least work Vexed by Vai into the set.. lol!)

Thank you for the great night! AND for sharing your soundcheck, i get to keep that one forever!
What can say?
Dweezil, I love how much guitar time you are getting! You are sounding great and the entire band is one severely groovin machine! It is fun to watch the band work on stage and easy to see the fun that the band is having while tearing through that wicked tough material!

Ray White, damn man, you are singing fool! You voice is so sweet, thank you for coming out, it was too much fun seeing you up there, watching you work the night, piles of fun.

The sound in the Fox was GREAT! That room is beautiful and what an experience to see ZPZ in such and intimate space. One last thing...Dweezil, you are way to kind to us fans! thank you for taking the time to sign my poster and i know that goes for every waiving ticket stubb out there!

Oh yeah, we love Billy but, GET RUTH UNDERWOOD for a little something special!

Thanks Dweezil, Tucson was a special show for me. You are a class act as you took the time after the show to say thanks to the fans even though you just put in a 3 hour show. Keep it going as it means alot to us.

this was my 2nd ZPZ show last year in phx. this year in Tucson. What a set! Dweez is a first class act hands down, the musicians armed to the teeth with talent you cant find everywhere. Songs I almost forgot about to songs I hum daily. We purchased 2nd row seats and were delightfully surprised when we were invited to the soundcheck 2hrs prior to the curtain where the goofed and shredded some florentine pogen and a couple other classics for our little audiance of about 30 fans. THANK ALL OF YOU DZ AND BAND AND FOX THEATRE

This was my very first Zappa show! I think I may have been the youngest girl there. Third-row seats are great. The music was wonderful and I was on air for weeks! Seeing all of you play has inspired me to learn to do more with my violin. Dweezil, Aaron, and Ray, I want to thank all three of you so much for signing my guitar purse (even though you must have been very tired), it really means a lot to me. :D Scheila, Billy, Jaime, Joe, Pete, you rock! You are all so very talented. There are so many kids my age now who don't appreciate good music. Ask 'em if they know who Frank Zappa is and they have no idea what you're saying. You guys are the best. I hope you come back to Tucson next year!! :D :D Dweezil, you should be very proud of yourself. You've grown so much as a guitarist.
