Did you attend this show at the Wiltern in LA?

Dweezil and the band would love to read your reviews.

Please do not post in this thread if you did not attend the show.

WOW! Dweezil has gotten good since last year! It was good to see the band groovin along without giving up the stage to any superstars...no disrespect to Steve Vai, who was not at this show but Dweezil is so good now, that he can cover the guitar shredding. All in all, what a great show. Good new choices of songs added to the set and the footage of FZ doing Muffin Man almost moved me to tears. You forget how much Frank loved what he did until you see his face playing his ass off with that joyfully evil smile he would get when he was really feeling it.
Dweezil is singing a lot more which is cool. Nice to see Ray White on stage sounding great as always.

Still waiting for my audition Dweezil. Play keyboards and sing.

I'm proud to say that I attended this show, and loved it. I am a guitar player, but relatively uninitiatied when it comes to Frank's music. This show has inspired me to buy some old Zappa records and explore everything that I've been missing.

I just wanted to remind you that you're spreading the word not just to the faithful, but also to ignorant oafs like myself. Please keep up the great work!

The size of the scope isn't quite what matters here. What we witnessed last night, at The Wiltern Theatre in L.A., can only be described as surrealistic. When tears began welling up in my happy face, I realized that this night was one of those long lost momentous occasions hitherto dreams are made of. Dweez & his band, of nowness, peaked a couple of hundred yards above the stage they adorn, while they begin to build beats & rhythms to polish off the scorching melodic guitar operations. Jazz Poofters abounded, as we watched & listened without comparisons to match. And then here he comes, where the hell did he be hiding at? Ray White, The man who sang. Vocals perfectly bringing them back alive. Star lights, foot lights, what the hell's the difference once our minds are blown off? An excellent show from a new dynasty of muscianship beyond the fold. Dweez, your papa is proud, so is Pumpkin. So are we. Next year, & the year after that...

THE SHOW WAS STUNNING!
I saw the HOB show the night before and this was better! There is no doubt at all that Dweezil is a master guitarist. People are saying that he got better from last year, that maybe, but he was cutting with Steve Vai last year, not george thurogood!! MORONS! Dweezil was born and raised to play guitar, it is not a coincidence that he is one of the best.
The playing was superb, love the drummer, the bass player was awesome and the buzz I got from hearing some" classic" music on my birthday was more than legendary!
keep the band together and I'll be there next year.
P.S. "Let the albino go free!"

Dweezil, et. al.

Thanks to you and your extremely talented band. What a tour so far! You guys a simply smokin'. Frank is smiling.

Please keep this gig going. As long as you're touring, we'll be showing up. Frank's music and the way you guys interpret it mean that much.

Got tickets for DC in November. We can't wait.

Outstanding. I never got to see Frank live so this was the next best thing. I probably had the worst seats in the house but it didn't matter. I was just so happy to hear Frank's music played live and given serious justice. Thanks Dweezil et al. The work you put into this to get it just right must have been staggering.

I can't wait until next year.

I got out of Chicago yesterday in time to escape the storm, only to land in the tempest of emotion that is ZPZ. The new films are such a joy! The audio of Frank could have fooled a blind man! Excellent new tunes, Tiny Lights, Brown Shoes, Wind Up Workin', Advance Romance, Enema Bandit , ... (my brain is awash with the juice!)
RAY WHITE!!! Joe! Sheila! Billy! Aaron! Pete! Jamie!
Last year, Vai and Boz were a treat as well as a distraction. Dweezil, you are really owning it and it's a pleasure to watch you shine as the true steward of the legacy. You seem a little reluctant to do FZ's vocals, but don't be!
I saw Ahmet in the lobby, and I strongly urged him to get on the bus!!! Can't wait 'til next year!!

Another exceptional evening of the finest optional entertainment.

Here’s the setlist:

August 23rd, Wiltern Theater Los Angeles
Noise intro
Black Napkins (video)
City of Tiny Lights (Ray White)
Advance Romance
Dumb All Over (video)
What’s New in Baltimore?
Carolina Hard Core Ecstasy
Dog Meat
Suzy Creemcheese
Brown Shoes
America Drinks and Goes Home
Peaches en Regalia
Pygmy Twylyte (Qualude Thunder version)
Dupree’s Paradise variations
[Jamie Kime kills (Packard Goose/Drowning Witch) Ray “Walk the beach with my cellmate”]
Uncle Remus
Willie The Pimp
Joe’s Garage
Wind Up Workin’ in a Gas Station
San Berdino
Illinois Enema Bandit
Wild Love
Yo’ Mama
(encores)
Cosmik Debris (KCET video FZ vocal and solo)
G Spot Tornado
Muffin Man (FZ solo from Baby Snakes video)

A few notes of interest.
Everyone seemed relaxed and truly enjoying themselves on stage as this show closed out the first leg of the 2007 tour.
To Dweezil’s (and everyone’s) bewilderment one bone spur in the pit kept yelling out “James Brown!” The meaning of this finally occurred to Ray who laughed and went over to Dweezil and explained he must mean “Bobby Brown.”
Dweezil cracked the band up (especially Pete) at the end of America Drinks when he said, "Hey Trixie, why don't you stop being such a whore..."
What’s new in Baltimore? Frank Zappa day, should happen every year.
When everyone took their place in the Dupree’s Paradise variations spotlight, Jamie “The Shocker” Kime ripped out a thrilling guitar solo. Scheila again mastered multiple sax.
Billy gave a couple members of the crew and Ray a turn at playing the gong during Muffin Man.
Mikey was on hand to shoot stills, hopefully they will appear on the site.

Thanks to Dweezil and the band for keeping Frank’s music alive! It doesn’t come any better than this.

Oh, from the guy in the hawaiian shirt to the ear doc... drop us a message, curious what your db meter read during that Pygmy Twylyte solo. woweeeee.

Couldn't have been any louder than Frank's Muffin Man solo. I was thinking the toilet paper Dweezil threw into the pit must have been to plug into our ears!
